Very Nice But Takes Up A Lot Of Space!
After searching high and low, my wife and I realized that we had given away our old baby swing years ago. With a new grand baby visiting occasionally, it’s now only a matter of time until we will need one. This seemed like a good choice.Unlike older models, this swing/baby jumper is designed to accommodate a child from the time they can sit up on their own until they are no longer interested in a small indoor swing. For babies, there is a fabric harness which allows them to bounce and jump as one would with a Jolly Jumper. Older children are provided with a swing featuring both a full back and protective front rail; as the child ages, the front safety rail and, finally, the seat back can be removed. While the product page states that it can safely handle weights up to 200 pounds, I really can’t see using the product with anyone who has passed their toddler years; the fact that the four feet aren’t anchored to the ground in any way dictates that the swing isn’t appropriate for anything but fairly gentle use.The swing took about half an hour to set up; the instructions are very good; you will need a large Philips screwdriver and a pair of pliers (or adjustable wrench) to tighten all the nuts. Some poles require a bit of effort (and twisting) to set properly in place but, other than that, everything fits together well. I found the unit to have a considerably wider and longer base than previous models we have owned; at 59” wide and 40” long (it is 61” high), it would be nearly impossible for a child to tip over while swinging. Considering its size, the unit seems very stable, the hardware is sufficiently strong to provide safe swinging, and its overall appearance is highly appealing. The rubber feet work well, preventing the swing from shifting excessively about. The hinged side arms of the unit allows it to fold easily in half for storage although the tall (nearly six feet), thin framework is too large to be easily tucked into a cupboard or closet. The components are certainly weather resistant and the unit is certainly well suited for outdoor use.The jumper is nicely designed and supports a baby well although it may not be as easy as some to get a baby into (there is no zipper or snaps, the baby must be slipped into the jumper). The ropes used to support the swing are excellent quality, smooth and comfortable to grip; the swing’s height can be adjusted to accommodate the size of the child. The swing is sufficiently sturdy and I quite like the ability to remove the front safety bar and rear seat back to allow for use by an older child.This is a well designed, sturdily built swing which offers great versatility; it should provide years of service to families with young children. There is no question that the unit requires a lot of room and, even though it folds up easily, might provide something of a challenge when it comes to storage. My wife and I both appreciate the fact that it is designed to be used both indoors and outdoors; it makes accommodating the size of the unit much easier. I see our newest grandchild loving this swing! Recommended.
