  1. Pretty darn good!
I’m using this gate for 7 dogs. It was easy to install, didn’t use instructions. I didn’t use the bottom locking bracket. It wasn’t needed but also cause having to lift the gate to unlock would put excess strain on the hinges and it was not very easy to do. The gate is sturdy, easily adjustable for length and simple to install. It swings open easily both ways, with just a push of a button. As advertised it does swing back and lock if opened less than full and it does pressure lock when fully opened. Big upgrade on our pressure fit old gate that gouged the walls with excessive use. Not to mention having a couple family members trip over the old one cause moving it was a pain. One thing to mention is the hinges and locking mechanism are solid plastic. I’d prefer metal of course but full metal would be 3 times the price likely. I used a piece of tape to hold the lift locking mechanism in. Sturdy enough to hold 7 big dogs back and super easy to open, perfect👍🏻

  2. Pretty good. We bought 3 for our own stairs.
After our big ‘ol Boxer-mix took a tumble down the carpeted stairs, we knew we had to prevent him from free access to the stairs when we are not watching him (he has some arthritis in his legs that doesn’t help him with stairs). The first gates we bought were white plastic (garbage). He pushed through the first white plastic gate in a record 3 minutes!! We were able to return those useless gates to Amazon for a full refund. Then, I spotted this gate. Love the useful video that you can watch before making the decision to purchase it. We bought 3. The metal is strong and also attractive. Our house is 125 years old (so, doubt there is a straight line / wall to be had) – and my son was able to get all 3 installed securely. On 2 of them, we had to forego the bottom latch – but no problem – since the top latch is solid and really clinches the trick. So easy to open and close. One is installed outside on the back deck above the stairs. Not sure how it will do outside in our Canadian winters. However, I am sure it will be fine with a little WD40, etc – if any of the outdoor element issues arise. Our pup is 100 lbs of pure love!! These gates stop our boy – plus look great (smart at the same time).

  3. Babelio baby gate
Arrived quickly, easy setup and adjustment. Seems stable and sturdy. Auto close feature is not the greatest but should be closed by supervising adults anyway. When not in use it stays open, good value for the money

  4. Not user friendly
I wouldn’t recommend this gate as it isn’t user friendly. For every advantage there is a disadvantage. If you secure the gate accordingly, once you press the button handle to open the gate it doesn’t open because there’s three latches and two of the three latches don’t release making it impossible to open. Alternatively, there are three clips in the middle of the gate to adjust the width you require for the area. These clips can be loosened so you can finally open the gate, but it is no longer secure as it should be.I believe this product should be revised where once you press on the button handle to open the gate, all 3 latches should unlatch to open the gate. The installation went excellent until I learned there was no easy way around the operation of the gate. I’m just disappointed that I placed holes in my wall to learn the gate wasn’t designed very well and I wouldn’t have known until the end. I also read another review that stated the same issues.I will be returning the gate.

  5. Sturdy , looks good, easy to operate with one hand
I purchased 3 of these gates to prevent my puppy from going upstairs, downstairs and into my kitchen . It was easy to install in the doorway where I had a wall on either side. It required a bit more planning installing it at the top of staircase because I didn’t want to drill into my decorative wood staircase post . I ended up using double sided foam tape( not included in kit) to try to hold up the locking latch. These were installed in main paths in our house and are used frequently. Everything has held up until now except one bottom latch but the gate is still serving its purpose. This is an issue only because I don’t want to drill into my decorative wood post, it’s not the fault of the product. I still love the gate because it is sturdy , looks good and easy to operate with one hand only. I just wish the kit included the double sided tape and that the back of the latch was wider to offer better sticking/gripping surface for the foam tape.

  6. Nice looking and functional
We were happy to find this gate with the hardware mounting lining up for our 90’s double bannister at the top of stairs area. The 34” gate lined up properly where as many gates would not. Also did not feel safe pressure mounting in this location so I’m glad it’s hardware. The gate seems very sturdy and we like the auto close. It seems easy enough to open thus far.

  7. Excellent purchase, outsmarted my German Shepherd so far
I took my time and measured and ‘mocked’ up the setup beforehand. Works very well and can close with just a push. Opening it requires you to push down on the button and lift. My GSD has figured out the pushing down of the button, but has not figured out the lifting of the gate at the same time. He is not happy about being unable to go upstairs, but his rear legs are not what they used to be and we want to make sure he does not get hurt (11 yo). I highly recommend this gate.

  8. Not meant for top of stairs
Though this is advertised as a top of stairs gate, this is far from it. The gate swings both ways and the latching mechanism is so weak when it auto closes on itself it sometimes swings past and then over the stairs. Completely defeats the purpose of using it as a safety gate for mobile baby and toddler. The install instructions were a nightmare and I ended up having to just figure it out on my own. If it wasn’t such a hassle and I didn’t spend so much time getting it installed I would return. We made some custom modifications so that the gate cannot swing the opposite direction over the stairs. We have a couple of other brands of baby gates and this is by far the worst so far. The Regalo is simple and sturdy and the best for both install and functionality. I recommend going that route over this one.

  9. I bought 2 of these gates and we are satisfied with the strength and function. The instructions could be a bit more clear and I see why some reviews point that out, but Im reviewing the gates and not the instructions. I was able to install the 2nd gate faster as a result of learning from the 1st. The weakness very well could be the locking mechanism but once everyone using them learns how to properly operate them this could help. I really like the way it stays open when you want it open and it has a self closing feature that works well if you are able to install gate plumb and level. I’ve dealt with a lot of baby gates through the years and some are a pain to operate especially when you’re not familiar with that particular gate. I am a proponent of teaching our babies to stay off the gate as a no-no and if using a lot of baby force it could fail. But as far as design, build quality, along with ease of use the Babeloi products are great

  10. Love this gate. You push down the grey button on top then lift up on the gate to swing either direction. My dog was able to open the gates with the push down handles to where this he can’t! Like the height and sturdiness of it. Good width adjustment range as well. Slightly difficult to adjust and set up if you’re not mechanically inclined but it’s not that difficult

  11. Perfect gate. Adjustable, sturdy and just screw it into the sides so there’s no problem with it falling over. Not as easy to install as others maybe, but when you have it up, It’s as good a gate as you can find. We have two now! Nice that they can do smaller doorways too. Also, nice that there’s no lip at the bottom to trip on, the whole gate swings, which is surprisingly absent in most other gates. 5 stars!!

  12. I may have a tip for people who find that the need to lift the gate makes opening it too difficult. Our gate didn’t need to be lifted, and i think this was because our lower latch (part “D” in the manual) wasn’t lined up correctly and the gate stopped short of it (i.e. the nub wasn’t entering the latch). It worked out great for us, but it should be noted that the dog we were containing wasn’t apt to push on the gate, so your results may vary. This gate served us well. It was narrow enough to fit our tiny stairwell, and my elderly mother found it easy to deal with. I didn’t care for the ugly warning stickers that couldn’t be removed from one of the bars. Okay, i get it: you don’t wanna get sued. But how many times you think people are gonna read that thing? every time they pass by?A couple weeks ago, i had an experience with Babelio customer service that left a bad taste in my mouth… small disclaimer, it began with a mistake on my part: i was convinced (erroneously) that this gate could be lifted off its hinges for storage. Not sure how i got there. Doesn’t matter.I wrote to the support address from the user manual to ask for some instructions or tips for lifting the gate off its hinges. In response, they asked me to send them “some videos showing the problem.” I found this request way out of line. Almost creepy. I only asked for instructions, why would they need videos of me pulling on the gate before telling me how to do it correctly??? I was both unable and unwilling to make them a movie, so instead i tried to phrase my request more clearly in case they’d just misunderstood me. I’ve been waiting 12 days for a reply.Yesterday, i brought in the handyman who installed the gate to help me; he told me the hinge is attached to the gate, so tools would be required for its removal. Babelio support could have just told me that instead of demanding home movies & then ignoring me. Seriously, how hard would it have been to write something like “the reason you’re unable to lift the gate off its hinges is that it’s not designed to do that.” Even if they’d called me or my question “stupid,” it still would’ve been better.Oh, and i know you’ve already guessed this, but my photos are of the damage caused by installing (and then uninstalling) the hardware. The chipped paint along the corner of the doorframe, the ugly wallpaper, and the dirty carpet were already present before installation and cannot be blamed on the gate 😉

  13. We bought two of these, one for the kitchen and one for our bedroom. Because our house was built in the late 1800s, the doorways, while charming, are a long way from plumb. But, thankfully, my husband has woodworking skills and tools, and we were able to install them both with a little effort. Obviously, they work better when they’re level, so, we made sure of that. I couldn’t be more pleased. We have five dogs and keeping them out of the kitchen while I’m cooking and in the bedroom at night (so the heat can be evenly distributed with the door open and our room isn’t stuffy at night – also keeps them from roaming the house) has been a BLESSING.Because we were installing into wood, we didn’t have any problems that those with drywall have expressed. I would recommend the gate to anyone who needs to control access in or out of certain areas.
