This thermometer immediately turns on in water and does turn off fairly quickly after being taken out. I do love how it displays the temperature: showcasing with blue, green, and red water droplets to display when the water is too cold, just right, or too hot, respectively.The reason I gave this 4 stars is because, while it did get close to the final temperature within 30 seconds, the temperature continued to rise for another minute afterwards. I also compared it with a very accurate digital thermometer I have for cooking (as seen in photos) and the baby thermometer was off by roughly 6-8 degrees (temp tested several times).I would say if you wanted something toddlers may think is cute and is safe for them to splash around with, then this would be a good choice. But depending on how accurate you like your thermometers, this may or may not be the best choice for you.

This floating seal work well for identifying the temperature of the bath water for my baby. It floats nicely and the display is easy to read. My main complaint is that the temperature sensor piece is a bit too loose inside the seal body and moves around easily. Other than that it works as advertised.
I don’t have kids and I’m a grown man. The impetus for acquiring a bath thermometer? You only need one unfortunate experience of plopping down in a sitz bath without first checking the temperature to recognize the utility of such a device.In any case…There are many styles of such devices listed on Amazon. Most are oriented to young children and most have very basic LCD screens. This one is the best I’ve seen. The temperature reads instantly on immersion, the numerals are illuminated (not just backlit) and easily visible in a brightly lit bathroom, the color coding (for low, medium and high temperatures) adds an extra layer of simplicity and safety, the automatic on/off works as advertised and is very convenient.That it’s shaped like an otter is something I can live in spite of the cuteness, in the absence of an audience for my bathing.Overall, it’s just about ideal and an excellent value.
This thermometer is so cute and so easy to use. Just toss it in the bath and it will read the temperature. I’ve come to find that it is accurate. It is nice that it has a clear screen and includes lights to represent the temp of the water too. It’s great that it is cute and will jut float around in the tub and could even be gently used as a toy.
