This is a great toy for infants and toddlers. Little ones can gum and bite them as their teeth come in and later they serve as a learning/skills tool. The silicone is sturdy, but has some give for squeezing or chewing on. The colors are true to the product pictures. I bought this as a gift, so I wanted to remove the plastic (to allow for any smell to clear). There was no odd or unpleasant odor at all. I would buy this again and have recommended it to a couple of friends with teething infants.
