I bought this program for my 4 year old son who is still having accidents. He is in underwear all day but still has trouble with small accidents and wetting the bed at night. I dropped this one star because you may have to modify this program to fit your life. Bear with me while I explain. I have 19 month old twins and for safety reasons I have my living room gated off from my kitchen and my living room also gated off from the foyer/stairs/guest bathroom. This program is meant for younger kiddos who need a “Potty” which they then must empty themselves into the bathroom toilet. I started off exactly as the program specifies by putting the potty and all the supplies in my kitchen. For me, this means my child has to carry a potty full of pee across a carpeted living room to the bathroom through two baby gates. After a couple days I had to relocate everything to the bathroom because it was too much to ask a 4 year old to negotiate two gates with full hands and 2 toddler brothers lying in wait…even with my help. Even so, after the relocation, he is still having accidents and is unphased by having to clean himself and/or sit in wet undies. I think he just thought that washing himself and changing his underwear was the new routine. It does not bother him. I wanted/needed this to work badly. I have 3 kids in diapers. The four year old is only wearing the diaper at night but I am still washing sheets every day. He may in fact have an underlying issue. My main reason for taking off a star is that you may have to adjust/modify this program based on the lay out of your home, circumstances beyond your control. I home school my 3 older children so I must have the gates to provide a safe area for my little ones while I am teaching. Feel free to mentally add a star back on if your potty trainer can get to the bathroom unencumbered. It really does make the most sense to have them learn to potty in the room where you are best able to supervise and take care of your other kiddos. I know Wendy understands this because she has 6 kids also. The DVD is great and her kids at the end are super cute. If I had my bathroom right off my kitchen it would have been just right for this program. I wish it had worked for my son. I also have two children with Autism. I would allow no less than 21 days for a child with special needs to master this because that is how long it takes neurologically for a new skill to become a habit. It may take much longer but the advice itself is quite sound.
Normally I give great reviews to everything I buy. Sadly this fell real short on the was it worth it scale. I have two children to potty train, they would never use the little potty seats. My son will go on the regular one but not all the time and my daughter will just sit on it and that is it. This program wants you to use the little potty seats, in the kitchen and feed your child chips and juice for the training. Oh and you never leave the room you pick for training all day. And you use candy for rewards. I mean I understand the rewards part but she kept them in a waistpouch like a dog trainer with dog treats. I know this sounds bad but she did make it sound like dog training. “good job here is your treat, good job here is your treat.” It was hard to watch after a while. She said it over and over again. Over all this is more about showing your children to do things themselves and clean up on their own.I am really sad I bought this at all. Just because it costs an arm and a leg don’t think it is a fix all because it’s not. I am sure you guessed I am going to return this asap.
Love this!!! Three out of three done! I was totally nervous to start this program, especially being a first time mom of triplets. I was inundated with advice and was dreading the potty training process. This Booty Camp DVD taught us exactly what we had to do, using Simple, Straight Forward instruction with direct and loving parenting advice in our home (We couldn’t afford to enroll all three kids in Ms. Wendy’s class!) Our 30 month old triplet boys all trained together but mastered it at different times over the three to five days. They loved the program and thought it was a blast! As for me, I have been able to ditch the diaper bag for the first time in six years and I feel so free! I love it! The best money ever spent!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We never though potty training could happenfor Michael so soon after his autism diagnosis. He is totally different childnow and he is so proud of himself. Thank you for showing us the way. Wecontinue to use the parenting techniques learned in the DVD in our everydayparenting. It helped us become better parents by instilling more confidence inour child. As for Michael, he is happy and thriving reaching new milestoneseveryday. He continues to progress faster than our doctors thought possible! We passed this program on to our special needs group and other families are finding success through this process also. Great Find!Sincerely,Barbara and Family
This video worked wonders. My daughter was completely potty trained after 2-3 days with no accidents and no need for pull-ups! The video gives clear step by step instructions, and flashcards keep the parent on track. The repetition is necessary to ingrain the proces in your young child. After the training, I do not even have to ask my daughter to use the potty, she does it when she needs to. For 2-3 days it can get tiring and at times I was ready to give up, but it is totally worth the effort.
