My 13 year old grandson built it without any problem. The instructions were easy to follow and it looks very high quality. Would highly recommend this product.
A mostly-enjoyable mini-brick build
The first thing to note is that these parts are not Lego-scale. It’s clearly stated in the listing so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if you buy it, but it’s something to keep in mind. Small bricks can be tricky to work with and it also affects what ages it’s suited for. The smaller sized bricks are still generally not bad to work with, aside from a few particular shapes. I haven’t tried this scale before but I got used to them very quickly, and when I went back to build a kit with normal Lego-scale bricks it felt downright bulky at first.I don’t have other brands’ pieces in this size so I can’t check compatibility, but within the set most of the pieces fit well, neither too stiff nor too loose. The main exception was the doors, which are a tight enough fit that they bend slightly in their frames, but they can still open and close properly.Parts were in numbered bags according to the floor. Instructions were mostly easy to follow, but annoying in places. The ground surface, with a not-quite-checkerboard pattern of light and dark grey plates, was sometimes hard to keep track of since past steps are all shown in the same shade.I’m not a huge fan of the way some things are constructed. The piano, for example, was a real nightmare. It’s very fragile and quite cantilevered in its construction. As a subjective complaint, most of the plants are based on a part with three prong-like stems, which I find to be really annoying to work with, especially at the mini brick scale. I also dislike stickers across multiple pieces, like the sign over the door.Additionally, it comes with a string of lights which I think make absolutely no sense. There’s no attachment positions and the instructions basically amount to “just stuff it all in there”. It looks pretty bad from the front, since the LEDs are overly harsh when they’re directly visible through the window, and from the back, obviously having springy metal wires everywhere ruins the view of the interior.More significantly, the lights default to a flashing mode. That’s something to be aware of, and which the manufacturer ought to state clearly, in case of things like photosensitive epilepsy. It took me by surprise, since I figured it would just be on and off; flashing doesn’t make any sense in context. Is this hotel supposed to be teetering on the brink of a power outage? It’s obnoxious.While I’ve got some complaints, I did it enjoy it overall. It has a high part count for the price, thanks to the scale. And it was fun to build.
Work in progress; but confident to say the quality is decent and above my expectations
Still in the early phase of building this set. I have nothing to be picky about it. I had mixed experience with brick sets from lesser known manufacturers in the past. This is the first time I build a set by this new-to-me manufacturer. Material quality of the studs and the instructions are above my expectations. Beware that the pieces are on the smaller end and not compatible with brand named ones. I wouldn’t consider this an ideal set to be gifted to young brick builders due to an abundance of small parts, plus a lack of moving parts or replay value. That said, for adult brick builders, this would be a fantastic, standalone shelf display piece that wouldn’t take too much space. Recommended for adult builders.
Fun and great build!
This is my second mini set and I find it a little easier to build than my previous one. The instructions are clear and easy to follow but a 6 year old will need a parent to guide them build the set. This may be ok for an 8+ year old to build as it requires a lot of patience and time to focus and finish this set. This is another fun and rewarding build. The set is very detailed and has very nice colors. The blocks are sturdy and well built, they hold and stay connected very well. I didn’t use the lighting included as i cant find a good way to installhide the lights properly. This is a great value set and definitely recommend. This is also great as a Christmas or birthday gift.
Mini set smaller than Lego, hours of fun
City Hotel Building Block Set with LED, great for Adults and Teens,Mini Bricks 1464pcs.This is a great building set, very similar to Lego. This is quite a challenging building set at 1464 pieces. It definitely takes several hours to put this together. This package comes with detailed instruction pamphlet, and each part of this building set does come in individually wrapped bags to help you follow the instructions easier. For the most part, the instructions are quite easy to follow. There are a couple steps that seem a little bit confusing but you are able to figure it out. One thing in particular were the gray blocks, in the instructions the gray is all the same, but the pieces have two different shades of gray so that was a bit confusing. The pieces themselves are well-made, theyâre strong and durable, and the colours are nice and vibrant. These pieces are much smaller than LEGO pieces, hence the mini Blocks, which overall fit together very nicely and easily, but there were definitely some pieces that were tricky to put together, or very delicate trying to put some parts together, i.e., the piano, it took me a bit as I kept breaking it due to its delicacy. The LED lights are kind of cool, but it doesnât really say how to put them it just kind of said put them in, and they are flashing lights, which actually kind of hurt my eyes so I didnât use them in the end. But the idea of it is cool and especially if the flashing doesnât bother you.Overall, this is a really nice mini building set. It definitely will take some time and some patience to put it all together, but itâs a great thing to do with a child or a partner that gives you time away from the screen.This would also make a great birthday or Christmas present.
Good building block set
It is a good building block set. It is easy to assemble. There are mini block set. Kids like the set.
I love this brand and the products they provide. The blocks click together really well just like legos and they help together super well too. The only thing is the instructions can be a little confusing so if you’re buying these for a kid you may have to do it with them!
I enjoyed doing this. I am really getting sick and tired of these kits not having all the parts it needs to be built!!! This has happened more times than I can count, and if you donât build right away , run out of time to return for another, but Iâm sure that one will be missing parts also.
The OLDER grandkids are enjoying this. The build is still in progress. I was thankful the piece bags were numbered, which helped the Grandma! The teens didn’t seem to think that was a big deal as they had to look in several bags for a few pieces. Not sure what that was all about. This set is a mini- don’t miss that detail or your upper elementary kids will be frustrated. This is for sure best for teens and up. Rated correctly. I wish they would not have photoshopped the advertising pictures and showed it true to size with teens- NOT elementary kids.So far, I am hearing no complaints, everything is clicking and sticking into place. Will include a picture when finished. It is going to be a while as teens are here off and on.NOTE: The item does look like the advertised photos- they are just not proportioned correctly- photoshopped. Think very tiny.It is such a different and detailed set with the lights and interior design. The restaurant detail is the favorite so far. The creative teens are building a story around this set. I think I will look for the other restaurant set they offer. This is the hotel with a smaller kitchen/bar area inside.5 stars for the details and colors.I should take one off for the faked pictures not showing the actual size. I won’t, but I wanted to-ha!
The directions and build itself were fine. The building turned out really cute.I wasnât a fan of how they were packaged. There didnât seem to be any method to how the bricks were packaged other than step 1. And there were a lot of bags for each step. We spent a lot of time searching for correct bricks.
Pieces are missing and I am very disappointed!!!
