I have one for my bedroom, one for my toddler’s room, and now one for my infants. Love this brand. Great sound selection (30+), easy to use, don’t need WiFi connection, but I paired it with my smart phone. App is easy to use.
Nearly perfect…
For the past couple of years, Iâve been using sound machines to improve my focus during work and to help me unwind before bed. Yet, despite exploring numerous options, I’m still looking for one that fulfills all my criteria.⦠AppWhile this particular sound machine is largely functional without its companion app, there are a few features that require it. For example, the alarm settings are exclusive to the app, enabling users to set routine alarms or even transform the device into a sunrise alarm clock. The app also permits the creation of up to 8 unique sound/light profiles that can then be selected directly from the device.⦠Design FeaturesMeasuring 5.9 inches tall with a base circumference of 4 inches, this sound machine’s elevated height is a welcome shift from shorter models. Moreover, it’s a practical design choice given the extensive LED customization options and functionality as a sunrise alarm clock.One feature I appreciated but hadn’t seen on other sound machines was the optional time display, which expands its utility and boosts time management. The array of customization options was another highlight. It offers fully customizable RGB lighting within the app or nine static colors (Natural White, Daylight, Warm White, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Turquoise, and Pink) and three cycling modes, all controllable without the app.It’s worth noting that while I didn’t mind not having a wireless option, some users may view this as a limitation. On the other hand, I did find the absence of Bluetooth disappointing as it would enable the machine to double as a speaker, allowing you to play music of your choosing.⦠Performance  The sound quality notably surpasses most of the sound machines I’ve owned, particularly at medium volumes, though higher volumes introduce some distortion. Furthermore, I noticed that most sound recordings effectively camouflaged their duration, avoiding repetitive loops.This machine delivers an impressively varied sound catalog, with 34 in total balanced between ambient sounds, melodies, nature sounds, and background noises. I was delighted to see all my favorite sounds included for the first time. (Rainstorm, Gentle Rain, Campfire, Wind, and Wind Chimes) That said, while I was happy to see 3 rain selections, I would have preferred if the heavy rain had been replaced with something more distinctive such as rain on a tin roof, as it lacked complexity, almost resembling static noise. Better than the hatch
My three year old has had a hatch since the day he was born, and we love it. I’m now having baby number 2 soon and needed another sound machine/light, especially for those middle of the night feedings. I decided to try this instead of the hatch and let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed.The dreamegg does everything the hatch can do and more. It has more sounds, more set schedules (that can be modified) and just more options in general. It’s super easy to setup – the app took about 30 seconds to setup. It has the buttons on the top of the device, which I actually like better compared to the hatch because the buttons are hard to see on the hatch at night, when it’s dark, and you have to flip the thing over. The main difference is that the hatch can be shut off with pressing your hand on the top of it while this is controlled largely by a big button on the top and smaller buttons around it. I honestly prefer this for ease of use, especially when you’re tired.Like I said, the DreamEgg has a lot more sounds than the hatch (at least the one we have, its 3 years old). I also like that this one comes with pre-built schedules, so when you are trying to setup a schedule, you don’t need to start from scratch. While we are waiting for the baby to come, I’m actually using this as a sunrise alarm – the sunrise slowly turns on 10 minutes before my wakeup time and then is a ‘sunlight’ color for the alarm. Helps my body wake up, especially because it’s still dark out when I wake up now.Considering this is decently cheaper than the hatch, I am very impressed with it and wouldn’t hesitate recommending it over the hatch. This will also work for older kids as an alarm clock (different colors means it’s time to get up / get out of bed) and I envision using this for years and years to come. It’s also lighter than the hatch I believe, and will be great for travel. You don’t have to have it connected to wifi to use but obviously to use the app, it is required. Great, great product.
