We bought this for an angled doorway and our kitten. The installation went really well because we listened to the previous reviewers about having the proper tools including new screws and used the included templates.Our 5m kitten figured out almost right away that she could wiggled under the bottom and get into our main entrance. ugh. We tried scratch deterrent spray but that only worked until she figured out she was more motivated to escape into restricted territory than avoid that smell. While it would be nice to have some sort of rigid material on the bottom to stop her, that would make it impossible to have the gate retract as it was designed. A don’t think a motivated toddler will get under this before an adult will get to them.Our solution to this was to put a backpack and her open-door crate at the base of the screen on the other side. It’s impossible now for our kitten to get into restricted territory now. If we were actually leaving the house on a regular basis, I would probably put a wood plank at the bottom and just walk over the gate each time. Not ideal, but this was designed for a toddler, not a 4 lb kitten. Please excuse the mess in the picture above, its Oct ’20 and nothing is normal. We also pried off the baseboard moulding because we’re planning on replacing them anyway. I would spent more time on installation and aesthetics if I ppl were actually coming into my home on a regular basis.. I just don’t right now.The gate is impossible for me to open with one hand at the top. Again, I’m absolutely fine with that. When I do use the gate, I grip it in the middle with one hand. The advantage is that the gate is low-profile when its retracted, which isn’t often these days.I would certainly buy this product again. We’ve had it about a month and it works perfectly fine. The price is extremely fair and the quality is great.
Its not a baby gate⦠Its a doggy gate!
And yes it kept them on the deck! Easy setup and looks good on our deck.We ended up with two as we had two extra a Golden to run to chase squirrels!If it can keep a 80ld Golden Retriever at bay, it will work for your gremlins.

I had issues with installing this gate but that’s only because I lost the instruction manual and screwed the wall mounts in upside down. However that is a me problem, not a problem with the product. The gate is nice and sturdy. It’s quite good size and works well.
Just what I needed. This is a room partition, not meant for containing determined/extra strong dogs.
Living with 4 dogs that have various energy levels and sometimes need time away from each other, I keep lots of gates on hand. I purchased this gate to separate our front room from the rest of the downstairs in our home, as we had something similar that worked well but it finally broke after many years of use.This one was much easier to put up, use, and is less visually intrusive than my previous roll away gate. When I want to put one dog in the front room (usually when they’re eating) or if I want to keep all the dogs out of the front room (usually due to heavy foot traffic out front – we have large windows there) it is super easy to pull out and lock in place, even one handed.It works perfectly for my small and medium sized dogs who are respectful of gates. My smallest one can squeeze under if he really wants to, but he is basically a noodle.If you have a dog who is destructive, or who will be determined to fight against being contained, this is not the product for you. The fabric used for the gate is quite sturdy but it IS still fabric after all, so be realistic about your needs.

My place doesn’t have straight walls or door frames (frown) & this babygate works incredibly well! 😀 Spring loaded, screwed into place solid edged, & retractable baby gates don’t work in our place because of the horrible angles, but this baby gate does!!!~Its strong enough to hold back my toddler & 3 yr old!~Easy enough to maneuver that my 9 year old with physical disabilities can open it himself, but my 3 year old hasn’t (yet) figured out how to unlock or open it.~I LOVE that the unlock/lock feature automatically goes to lock & that you have to be very distinct to put/keep it in the unlock mode (only time it pulls out/gets longer).~Handle makes it easy to put into place even when I’m carrying a wiggling/trantruming child.~It looks clean, does not have a funny/weird smell, & was deliver whole & with all its parts.~Super excited to get extra fitting also!!I live in Canada, where there’s snow & cold weather. Although I have not tried it, I wouldn’t recommend putting it outside in our winters! -40 or/and any freezing rain, I think, would cause the material of the gate to crack/break or disallow unlocking.
Awesome Gate!!
We installed it on our outdoor deck to keep our dog from escaping. Our opening is really wide so we had to search for a long time. We are very satisfied with this gate. It endured the rain and weather all last summer, we brought it indoors for the winter and is up again for it’s second summer and no issues at all with re-installing it or its function. Easy to use and looks great!!
It’s not dog proof.
This product will work well for todlers but I bought it to sequester our new puppy in the kitchen. It was dificult to install and needed two people to do it. Once installed, it did hold back our puppy for a while but as she grew, and even though it was locked, was able to climb under it and escape the kitchen. It may be good for todlers, but not the best for grown dogs.
Good for baby not for large dog
We bought this to keep our dog from the living room when our baby started crawling. It worked well. Unfortunately our dog scratched at it and put a few small holes in the mesh. If dog is smart itâs easy for them to sneak under and can also lean on to it to get over.Not as sturdy as we needed, will leave marks on the wall when removed, can lock into place. It looks decent when in use itâs not too ugly.
