Very nice Sound Machine with an app
This sound machine with alarm clock is a very impressive device. It is small and is full of features. I measured the box at 3â ” by 3â ” by 1¾” so that’s pretty small. It doesn’t feel plasticy as there is a fabric cloth around the perimeter of the machine and the top is rubberized where the buttons are with a grill in the center. Long pressing the power button – turns the unit on. The unit plays a nice greeting and then the last sound begins to play and of course the clock turns on. Pressing the pause button will stop the sound and just have the clock displayed. When the machine is on, a LED glows under the perimeter of the machine providing a little ambient light. The sound machine / clock can be used as is or I can connect the machine to my phone via bluetooth and use the app. The little box shines by itself, but I think it’s totally better with the app.Pairing my phone is very simple. I downloaded the app from my favourite store, launch the app and selected the sound machine on the phone’s screen to pair and I’m done. Within the app I can change the LED display colours across the bottom of the box. There is also a ‘Light Rhythm’ option which will cycle the LED randomly. After connecting to the app, the clock on the sound machine will automatically change to the same time as my phone. The app provides a faster way to select the sound that I want to listen to plus gives me more control. The loudest volume on the machine is more than enough (maybe too loud for some sounds) and the volume has 16 levels if adjusted with the ‘+/-‘ on the unit. The app shows me what the unit’s battery strength is and when charging the battery symbol flashes. The unit functions perfectly while charging so no worries of a battery being depleted just at bedtime. While charging there is a little red light below the USB C port and it turns off when fully charged. The sound machine ran on full volume playing the brown sound for only 5 hours and it required 1 hour and 15 minutes to fully charge. The 5 hours is a little short for a full night’s sleep but I can connect the charger as well and it will run forever.
Great for My Sleep Routine!
As someone with ADHD, Iâve struggled with insomnia for years, and finding something that truly helps has been a challenge. The GOQELK Sound Machine has completely transformed the way I approach sleep.Hereâs how I use it: I set it up on my nightstand and pick one of the soothing white noise options or gentle nature sounds. The sound quality is amazingâclear and calming without any annoying loops. The RGB light is a bonus; I dim it to a warm tone, which creates the perfect relaxing atmosphere before bed.The timer feature is my favorite because I donât have to worry about it staying on all night. I usually set it for 60 minutes, and by the time it turns off, Iâm already asleep! On restless nights, I connect it to my phone via Bluetooth and play a guided meditation, which helps me relax even more. The wake-up light has been a surprising perkâit eases me into the morning instead of jolting me awake, which helps me feel more rested. Itâs also great for those nights when I need a quick nap but want a gentle way to wake up.If youâre someone who struggles with falling asleep or staying asleep, this is absolutely worth a try. Itâs become a must-have part of my routine, and Iâve finally started waking up feeling rested.
Moderately decent white noise machine, weak speaker, 32x built-in sounds, decent build, fishy app
This is a moderately decent white noise machine with built-in BT speaker. It has a total of 32 sounds of various types and it’s amongst some of better ones in terms of the number of sounds offered; however, the sound quality and the volume of the speaker just isn’t there for a speaker that claims to be rated for 5W/4Ω. Believe it or not I have a 3W BT speaker that’s louder and sounds better than this.Worse yet, the QR code at the bottom the cardboard box that it comes in that’s supposed to redirect me to the Google Store (i.e. it says ‘Get it on Google Play’) to get the app actually redirects me to somewhere else to get the app. As if it’s not enough that the app mines my personal data, but now it’s redirecting me to some 3rd party website to obtain the app? Needless to say, this is a deal breaker for me. Btw, the app is NOT required for the vast majority of the functions and features and if you must, you should download the app (as I did, for the purpose of evaluating this product) directly from Google Store instead (just search for ‘white whisper’).â¡ Physical buildThe physical build quality is decent; much better than most others that I’ve come across and tested so far (several dozens). It’s somewhat hefty and that’s usually (but not always) indicative of quality products which this device seems to be. I do like the fact that it’s mostly covered with some sort of soft fabric which makes it easier to work with (well, for me anyway). It also 4x little anti-skid rubber pads at the bottom, which I do appreciate and it does work reasonably well given the circumstance. As for the controls, it has the typical spring-loaded buttons covered with soft rubber which I’m NOT a big fan of especially for those buttons that I’d use often, such as volume and sound change. These soft rubber buttons require a lot more effort to work with and they are just cheap in my mind. I’d rather have touch control instead of these and I’m not particularly fond of touch control either. I personally prefer hard plastic buttons because they are that much easier to work with and the volume should be controlled a knob instead. In any event, these work just fine without issues.â¡ SoundsThere are a total of 32 built-in sounds (listed below) which is pretty decent although it’s somewhat typical at this point in time. Most of these had less than 10 when they first came out but 20+ sounds are the norm nowadays so that’s not something to write home about either. The quality of the sounds themselves is just fine; however, it’s NOT nearly loud enough even at the highest volume and I suspect this doesn’t have a real 5W speaker and if it does, it’s definitely not a high quality one because I have a 3W BT speaker that’s louder and has better sound quality (i.e. clearer highs/mids) than this. The sound quality would’ve been just fine as a white noise machine but as a standalone BT speaker, it just doesn’t cut it in my mind.â¡ Sound categories* 12x lullabies/sleep music* 8x nature* 16x ambient* 4x objectâ¡ Timer/AlarmIt has 5x preset timers (30/60/90/120/240 min) that’s (again) typical of most other white noise machines; nothing fancy here. In addition, it also has an alarm feature that few other have which I do appreciate. Note that you can do more for both of these features via the app and I have to say setting up the alarm via the buttons on the machine is tedious at best.â¡ Other featuresIt has moderately decent digital clock which is perhaps one of its key selling points since the vast majority of other white noise machines don’t necessarily have one. While I do appreciate the fact that I has one, it really should NOT be covered with the fabric because it just makes it that much more difficult to see and it’s completely counterproductive for a LED display. It also has RGB lighting at the bottom along the 4 sides which is neat; however, they are somewhat boring and don’t really do a whole lot for me personally. It has 8 static colors (pic 13) and 1 dynamic/rainbow effect, which again is just meh at this point in time. It can be charged via USB-C which is good and you really shouldn’t get anything that still uses Micro USB at this point in time.â¡ ValueAll things considered, this is a moderately decent white noise machine with decent physical build; however, the volume is low even at the highest and the sound quality just isn’t there in my mind especially for a supposedly standalone 5W BT speaker.I also do not appreciate the fact that it lies to my face about where to download the app (i.e. supposedly Google Store but redirects me to somewhere else). It’s somewhat reasonably priced at $36 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, and performance. Your mileage might vary.
