When one of the walls in your home is constructed of large logs, something as simple as hanging a display shelf on it can prove to be a real challenge; not requiring an extended flat surface to hang against, floating shelves such as these are almost always the best solution.Wanting to create a bit of contrast with the blond logs that they would be suspended on, we chose to go with the dark walnut colour. The two twenty-four inch shelves we received were nicely, if simply crafted; they arrive completely assembled so that your only real task is to mount them on a wall. Thankfully, the package includes most of what you need to accomplish this, screws, anchors, matching hole covers, and a tiny level. I was pleased to see that the holes for mounting the shelves to the wall were predrilled and that they are set sixteen inches apart (the standard width for the studs in your house). Lining up the holes with two studs is ideal (since you wonât have to use anchors) although often not possible. If you are placing the shelves on drywall, a 1/4â bit is needed to drill holes for the wall anchors; once inserted the shelves can be screwed into them. If you are serious about having your shelves hang level, I would highly recommend using a proper full sized level in place of the one that comes with the set.At just over four and a half inches wide, there is enough room on the shelves to hold all sorts of ornaments, books, or other items you wish to display. A lip running along the front edge of each shelf prevents anything from sliding off due to vibrations. The shelves themselves are smart looking although, of course, they are not constructed of real walnut but rather an engineered wood (likely MDF) with a nicely applied hard laminate veneer.While we always prefer âreal woodâ products to engineered wood, the location we have picked out for these shelves makes the difference all but unnoticeable. These shelves have a sleek modern look, are easy to install, and are sturdy enough to easily support the picture frames and knick knacks which they will be home to. At their current price of $40 CAD they are competitively priced and represent decent value. Recommended.

Nice Glossy Shelves For Displaying Items
These black painted wooden shelves look very rich in person. They are well painted and I see no missed places or paint drips anywhere. The finish is extremely smooth and glossy.The included screws and anchors made these easy to install securely to two different walls in a bedroom.Thanks to the ledge on the front of the shelves, I don’t have to worry about things falling down or slipping off of the smooth surface.These helped me clear off a space on a desk while still keeping things within reach. The bedroom now looks neater and more organized too. These would make gret display shelves since the shelves themselves are so nice to look at.I have the 24″ version of these shelves and I think it would look great to have a set of 6 stacked one on top of another on the wall as an alternative to a free standing shelving unit.I’m very happy with this set of shelves and think the value is there for the price.
Basic particle board shelving
I ordered the walnut shelves and the colour and finish goes well with my walnut coloured cabinet. However, the finish is just a vinyl laminate that can easily scratch (there were some minor scratches on the bottom of the shelf when I opened the package, but not significant enough to be seen without looking closely). The shelves are not wide enough to hold a box of kleenex which I was hoping to put on the shelf. However, they can accommodate small items. These are suitable for small spaces where you want to have small items off your counter or put some framed photos or other decor.

This is not made of wood. The termination is vinyl-like.The size is small, don’t plan to put anything too big on it.

You could hang them side by side to create a long shelf, but they would also look great stacked or staggered across the wall for a more dynamic display.Watchouts:â Not Real Wood: Itâs my own fault for not paying closer attention to the description, but these shelves are not made from real wood. While they still look nice and are reasonably well-made, they are constructed from a laminate material, which can be scratched easilyâ Shallow Depth: The shelves are quite shallow, which makes them perfect for displaying small items like photos or small decorative pieces, but theyâre not great for larger items. I had hoped theyâd be deep enough to hold a hair tool organizer but unfortunately, theyâre too narrow for that. Theyâre best suited for small, lightweight objects.
Great for pictures
Really love the look of these white float shelfs to hold pictures in my in my office. It allows me to really play with the different sized picture frames and I can rearrange then any time I want to switch it up. More versitle than just hanging each individual frame. They went up quickly as they come with a small level. I’m happy they did, so I didn’t have to worry about finding out afterwards that they were slightly off.
