Peace of mind
Works amazing, picks up and notifies my of noises, motion and people. Not sure what Iâd do without it.My only wish is that the power plug wasnât so big, awkward and ugly. Cord length is great though.
Nice camera but
Picture quality is quite good. Simple setup. On my Android Razor+ 2023 it doesn’t close well using Google commands. I think a software upgrade from the manufacturer is needed.I don’t know why there is no looping with the SD card you have to reformat the SD card when it’s full. I assume it’s to get you to purchase yet another cloud service they have available. That doesn’t make me a loyal customer. Other than that good at this price point.
Used item
I was given a used item. The packaging was all ripped up and shoved back into the box. The camera already had an account created on the device as wellâ¦. Very disappointed. Also didnât realize this camera doesnât swivel the head by the app so it needs to be in the right position to see anything.
I originally bought these as a budget camera to put inside one of my rainforest terrariums. The form factor of these ones was perfect, especially compared to their outdoor variants. I didn’t expect these to last more than a month or two.Pros====- They’ve been rained on multiple times per day (from the mister system), fallen into the water basin, fallen onto some rocks, caked in mud, scratched up by reptiles, and 5 months later are still are going strong. For a not rated for this kind of abuse, these far exceeded my expectations.- Excellent price per value. This is incredibly helpful when you need multiple cameras to capture different angles.- Pretty good night vision for the price. I’ve seen worse night vision systems on more expensive models.- Decent enough image quality for the price. It’s not anywhere near perfect, contrast is a bit lackluster, but it’s good enough that you can see what’s going on most of the time.- Low heat output. These average around 83 F in my terrarium and I’ve never seen one get above 88 F.Cons====- The app can be finicky. Luckily, it’s pretty easy and straightforward to get the cameras set up in the app. I’ve used cameras around this price point that fail even that first step. The camera app is generally just buggy. They do update the application often though, and sometimes those updates do seem to resolve some of the bugs. It’s not nearly as solid as other camera apps though.- Motion Detection is extremely spotty. I maxed out the sensitivity on mine, did not use activity zones, and it still misses some events it should pick up. Sometimes, it will be accurate enough to pick up a small worm peaking out from under a leaf and wiggling around. Other times, it blatantly misses a large human opening the terrarium doors with their face filling the entire frame.- Auto night vision will sometimes stay in night vision permanently. I wish there was a setting to set the threshold for it changing back from night to day. If you have a shaded part of your house, it will never be bright enough to toggle back from night to day. Conclusion======It’s like $25 (as of this writing) a camera and survives a decent amount of abuse. I have about 5-6 of them now for my terrariums and have yet to have one fail. Despite it’s flaws, you can’t go wrong for the price.
I’m someone who likes to go on frequency trips out of town so this is something that’s great to keep an eye on my tortoise. Kasa is easy to use, control and setup. I’ve been using a variety of their products for years simply because they just work without issue. Download the Kasa app, turn on bluetooth follow a couple steps and boom, you are connected. The quality is great even when I am away on a 4g network. The biggest reason I love Kasa cameras is the fact that I don’t have to pay for cloud subscriptions. Everything is locally stored and free to access. Overall, a low cost, high quality option for those that don’t want to pay monthly.
We have over 10 of these in our house and absolutely love them. One of the best things is that they donât require a subscription service. The cameras have worked excellently for us with almost no issues. Image quality is great, and the app for playback is smooth and usually lag-free.The only trouble weâve had was during rolling blackouts, which occasionally caused some devices to unpair and need resetting. In a few cases, the power issues also corrupted the micro SD cards, which was unfortunate but not the camerasâ fault. Overall, weâre big fans of the Kasa systemâitâs been a reliable setup for us.
I got this to help watch over my mom. I already had a different Kasa cam which was great aside from the cheap construction (outer shell broke off in 1 fall). Connectivity and app integration with phone and Alexa tablet is effortless to set up and use. Only downside is the sound for communicating with my mom isn’t that great. For $20 I can’t really complain though.
I thought I needed to try an inexpensive camera to monitor my front door activity. This was packaged nicely, very easy to program, and works great! After downloading the app, your phone walks you through what to do next .. easy-peasy! I was surprised for the low price how effective it works .. great picture quality and accurate notifications! After going to the manufactures website to view the question and answer section, I see it’s a long-standing manufacture …. happenstance I bought such a great company. I had a little problem trying to figure out which side to inset the SD card, but I learned after watching a video. YouTube is always a great place to watch how to do something, for older folks. I just placed mine in the windowsill, looking outwards towards my front door area, then realized when checking out the picture on my cell phone, at nighttime, that the reflection of the glass is all I saw with the multiple night LED’s glowing … after going into the Settings, I just changed the mode from NIGHT VISION to DAY, as I leave on my porchlight anyway. Worked great! You just have to play with the Settings and the program. You can also set which 4 “Activity Zones” you want to highlight, so it doesn’t notify you constantly. There is a bitty light that beep glows off and on constantly, so it is obvious for someone looking into my window the camera is working (and maybe filming), which is what I also like .. it’s not just a camera sitting there. It’s VERY small which is cool. I don’t need to AUDIO feature, listening and talking, so turned it off. You’d need it for a baby monitor or if you wanted interaction with whos in the room. It’s ALL there, just take some time to parooze what your particular needs are. Love it and trying to figure out how to use one at my back door, too! Lucky I found such a legit camera set-up!!
