Whether three years old or ten years old, kids always seem to be attracted to small mechanical dogs such as this that walk, bark, and wag their tails. Our grandchildren are no exception; they love lavishing care on their pretend pets and will play with them for hours.When our young grandsons saw the toy they were initially skeptical, pointing out that it looked like a âgirls toyâ. After I flipped the switch to on and the dog began its performance, colour immediately became immaterial! The pup is about six inches high, pretty much the standard height for such toys. Its golden fur is a soft plush material which invites cuddles. A red bandana encircles the pupâs neck. The toy requires two AA batteries which are not included. The battery compartment can only be opened by using a screw driver, which is included with the toy. A single off/on switch is located on the pupâs belly, right beside the battery compartment.As advertised, the dog performs a short, continuous routine when turned on. It initially shuffles forward about a foot, then, wagging its tail and barking (it sounds more like a squeak from a squeeze toy than an actual dog barking), it proceeds to shuffle backwards about half the distance it moved forward. The pattern continues to repeat itself until the toy is turned off.The accessories included in the set add to the play value! Besides the pink and purple travel kennel (which has a handle and conveniently opens on both the side and on the front), the set comes with a set of vet tools (otoscope, syringe, thermometer, and stethoscope), a couple of toys (a ball and a bone), as well as tools for grooming and caring for your dog (hair clipper, hair dryer, scissors, comb, perfume bottle, milk bottle and dog bowl). Only marginally better that dollar store quality, there is nothing fancy about the these items but they do the job, providing a wide range of activities for the young pet owner, aspiring veterinarian, or dog groomer to engage in.This cute puppy gets treated as royalty around our house. The grandkids love to watch his play routine and are content to feed, care, and supervise him for an extended period of time. With the travel kennel, it is easy to take everything with you to a friendâs house or on a trip. While it may not be particularly innovative nor boast quality construction, this toy is a classic featuring a design that has endeared itself to generations of kids. Itâs simple, itâs fun, and itâs competitively priced. Recommended.

What a terrific toy set for a youngster!The plush puppy is absolutely adorable with his little bandana and cute floppy ears and sweet smile. That he walks and talks and wags his little tail is an awesome addition that the little ones love! They are having so much fun with this set; they cannot seem to get enough of it. One even takes the puppy to bed with them as he has become their favourite toy of all time. They’ve even named him and everything.The carrying case is very well made, with terrific detail such as the formed “bed” inside, the hearts and paws cutouts, and the flower shape on the handle. It is large enough to fit all of the pieces including the vet supplies and the grooming supplies when they are not in use. But they will be getting a LOT of use as the children really love this set a lot. I like that they can use their imaginations in so many ways and not just one way. I mean, it’s not “just” a vet set and it’s not “just” a doggy spa grooming set. It is both of those things, plus the “everyday” set that includes feeding supplies and puppy toys too. I think this gives the children so many opportunities to playact different scenarios for fun while also providing a terrific teaching/learning opportunity for parents to help the children understand the different kinds of care that a pet needs on a daily basis and on an ongoing basis.I think it would even be a great way to introduce children to the kind of responsibilities that come with pet ownership. If a family was considering getting a dog as a pet, for instance, this set could be used not only for fun but as a means for a parent to teach the children what is involved in properly caring for a new addition to the family.But that aside, since we already have pets and the youngsters already know the responsibilities that go with that, this toy set is a huge hit and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone with kids over the age of 3. The 5-10 age range are raving over it.
It doesnât sound like youâd expect, more like a dog squeaker toy, but I feel like that gives it more of a charm! My niece will love it! Definitely worth the money!
