Best monitor I’ve owned
I’ve had multiple vtech monitors that don’t come close to this leapfrog monitor, and I wish I had found this years ago. Aside from the much larger screen, clearer picture and no wifi capabilities which I love! here are my top 6 favorite features!First image is color night vision not zoomed in on highest brightness level at nightSecond image is 8Ã zoom with color night vision on brightest setting at nightThird image is Greyscale night vision on brightest settingFourth image is Greyscale night vision with no night light on1. Battery Life – Amazing ð I can actually leave the parent unit unplugged an entire night and still have battery!2. Night Vision – OMG! Best night vision on a monitor I’ve ever experienced!! Greyscale has a very clear picture on night vision mode but the best feature about this camera is the color night vision ð there is a built in night light on the camera unit that makes it possible to see everything perfectly and in color.3.Night Light – 5 levels of adjustable brightness ð automatically turns on for color night vision mode and automatically turns off during the day4. Up to 8Ã zoom – Still risk waking baby to check if they’re breathing? Not anymore! When fully zoomed in you can clearly see if your child’s chest/stomach ect is moving up and down to breath. When fully zoomed out you can see a large area without moving the camera but the camera does rotate!5. Talk back feature – there is a slight delay with this but it still works wonderful. 5 levels of volume control to choose from, controls how loud you hear noise on the parent unit and how loud the child hears your voice from the camera.6. Range – Next best feature to the color night vision! My old units could barely go to my back yard without constantly losing signal, but this unit does not have that problem! I’m able to go anywhere in my yard as well as right to the end of my driveway sit in the vehicle and still have a perfect connection ðThis monitor has a lot of other features/functions I haven’t mentioned like the melodies ect only because I don’t utilize them ðHighly recommend for anyone that does not require a wifi capable unit. If you need wifi I would check if they have a wifi version and give it a go!
This monitor is amazing
I didnât have high expectations for this monitor and I found all the monitor brands super confusing. I didnât know what was âgoodâ so I took a chance on this one based on reviews and price.Trust me, buy this monitor. I was so impressed when I got it, it had way more features and better performance than expected. The picture quality is amazing and you can choose to be in colour or B&W vision mode. I can actually see my little one breathing at the angle I have the camera on which is awesome for nervous parents. So far range is great anywhere in our house or yardâ monitor has no problem receiving signal.The only thing is the sound sensitivity is almost too good. It picks up someone turning on a tap in the bathroom next door even with doors closed, or me loading dishes downstairs. There is terrible feedback if the monitor is too close to the camera. So if you go to check on baby make sure you leave the monitor.Battery life on monitor is good. I only charge it once a week and use it about an hour per day. I leave the camera plugged in.There are many features like playing sound and adjusting settings that I havenât used yet but I can see them being useful as my little one ages.
Buyer Beware!
I should have read the reviews from other Leap Frog monitors. Initially we were pleased with the monitor as the picture was clear. The monitor size is enormous – too big really. Within 3 weeks of normal use our screen died completely. No video picture at all. I attempted to contact Leap Frogâs âcustomer serviceâ. What a joke. Nothing but an automated response saying they received my email. And after more than 30 attempts to get through on their phone lines, nothing. Every time the system puts you on hold for 5 minutes and then hangs up on you. I tried a second day and the line opened 3 hours after the recording said their service desk was open, only to experience the same endless cycle of hold and hang up. Donât even bother with this. Luckily Amazon cares enough to let me return it.
Love it!
I had the 5 inch before and it worked really well, until it got dropped. And believe me, we dropped it alot and and abused it well. Also, the antenna broke. But it still worked perfect. So I bought the 7 inch. There’s definitely a pretty good size difference. It won’t be as easy to carry around the house in your hand or in your pocket. But it’s large enough to leave it and be far away and still see the screen well enough. The picture quality is awesome. The battery life is really great too.
6 month update
I canât believe how fast this monitor came! 4 days earlier than expected. Weâve only used in a handful of times because our LO has taken a few steps back with their sleeping. But we love it so far. Itâs still too new to speak about battery life. Screen is HUGE – I honestly didnât realize how big it was going to be. Colour only works if thereâs at least some light in the room. But B/W very clear. Panning the room, and zoom work great. Night light and noise machine built in. Only con so far – there was some delay/pixelating the other night, but it was minor. However, for the cost of the device, still a little disappointing (reason for 4 stars).Iâll try and update after more usage.6 months later -Monitor still generally works as described above. Battery has started to fade, but I leave it plugged in for when itâll be on for extended periods. Itâs also a little pixelated when zoomed in at 8x – but not a big deal for me.

The picture is so clear, the color night vision camera is awesome to have and the sound is clear as day as well. Absolutely love this baby monitor couldnât be happier with my purchase.
