Ideal First puzzle
Purchased as first birthday gift. A perfect variety of shapes to learn “how to puzzle”, and he of course can only master the circle and square so far. But it’s colourful and fun – and will engage him longer than the true beginner simple “square,circle,triangle” type. Stop wasting your day searching and comparing and just end up with this one, as I did. Can’t speak to durability as he’s only had it a month, but it was sturdy and seems durable out of the box. SUPER large….I mean large….knobs for easy grip.
Best fist puzzle
Got this as a part of 1st bday gift and the baby loves to play with it. We play every day and heâs so excited to play shapes. I had to keep the pieces away after a while since he would throw them around and could trip and fall. The board is super smooth and bright colours really attract the baby

Helps with shape sorting
Excellent for development. My son was just 13 months old when I purchased this and it wasn’t even a week after that he was able to shape sort other toys with ease. I know this toy helped contribute to that, because it made the placement of the piece much more obvious.I did remove one star because the surface images are easily damaged by saliva and little teeth as shown, but baby teeth will leave their mark in just about anything that isn’t meant to be chewed on. Knowing this, I still purchased a few other of these puzzles. I just try to catch him and give him something else to chew.I did notice that some other reviewers mentioned that the text was missing from the pieces. If this is something that is important to you, make sure you select “English Only” before adding to your cart. The other option is “Multilingual” and therefore will be blank for play in any language.

Puzzle pieces are NOT painted. Do not buy
My wife and I love Melissa and Doug toys. We usually know their logo is synonymous with quality and safety. So imagine my surprise when I bought this puzzle for our daughter. It says ages 1+. One year old children still put things in their mouths. The print on all the puzzle pieces is just a cheap sticker that begins to dissolve the moment it gets wet. Do not buy this for any child who is still chewing or exploring with their mouths. It’s a complete waste of money. Very disappointed in the quality complete garbage. This is not a 1+ toy. Also the screws that keep the pegs in are not hidden at all. Easily accessible by small children to scratch themselves on.Do not buy.
I purchased this for my 18 month old grandson.Unfortunately one of the pieces had a chip in it, visible through packaging, and would cut his lip if he put it in his mouth.
Wish I had read the reviews first. I kinda had it in my head that Melissa and Doug were all wood puzzles and really good quality because I remember friends used to rave about them, but this was about 8-10 years ago. Now I finally have a kid but I think they have probably value engineered out a lot of the quality. This one was part wood part paper board. It’s really cheaply made. We just bought this and and a m&d xylophone which was way off key. Kind of disappointed in the brand and would definitely not recommend to any friends or buy them as gifts.
Es grande comparado con los juegos similares, por lo único que no le doy 5 estrellas es que las piezas cuesta un poco encajarlas… entran perfectamente, pero cuesta un poco deslizar la figura a su sitio, me imagino que esta hecho asà a propósito para que el niño o niña encaje bien las figuras, pero en mi caso necesito que entre más fácil.
Good product for toddlers
I had to return it as it kept producing wood residues even after numerous being wiped/cleaned. This can cause a serious hazardous issue especially for a younger child who still eats whatever they touch or see. What a disappointment for the brand !
