Amazing monitor for peace of mind.
Iâve been using this monitor on my newborn for just over two weeks. So far, I love it!The monitorâs packaging was amazing. It came with everything needed for a simple install…. measuring tape, screw driver, drywall plugs, etc. Install took less than 10 minutes and looks sleek.The app was easy to download and create a username. I like that you have to physically connect to the monitor to use the app to avoid hackers gaining access to the camera stream.Operationally, the monitor works great. It monitors respirationâs, tells me when babe is awake, tells me when babe is moving and analyzes sleep patterns.I contacted customer service when I wasnât getting alters for no movement after removing the baby from the crib. They promptly responded to me and informed me that a no movement âalertâ will only be generated if baby goes from a sleeping state to no respiration, without movement. This prevents false alarms when parents take baby from the crib. I love it!Video quality is great. Sound quality great. Ability to save video clips or take still shots in the app.All in all… worth every penny!
NOT Recommended, horrible product
As many parents we bought this and install it before the baby was born. The APP and the camera are EXTREMELY glitchy. Once you notice, it’s too late to return it. We are extremely angry at ourselves to have wasted this much money. We trusted the wrong reviews. Once you’re aware of the glitches you supplement the anxiety for the baby to the stress the MIku could stop working anytime, without notice, or that what is reporting is incorrect information.Major issues:1) Continuous issues with connectivity between APP and camera. It’s just doesn’t connect at all or loses connectivity while watching. Note that I’m extremely skilled at networks and our house has a brand new mesh network with total coverage. When you contact MIku support they initially always tell you it’s you network, and dig deeper only when, like in my case, you show reports of signal strengths.2) The APP reports false breathing very easily. Essentially, if you have a bathroom fan near your room, a AC, a fresh air, and intake, whatever can be mistaken by the Miku as a breathing human. They swear that when a baby is actually in the crib the Miku measures that but that is not entirely correct. Countless times we removed the baby and the Miku happily picked up another breathing from no idea where. This means that the Miku does NOT sound an alarm when it should. What’s the point of buying the breathing monitor?3) Contrary to alternative products on the market, this wifi camera will NOT connect with your APP is there’s no internet connection. Or, if it does, it never happened to us. This means that is you live in area where for any reason there’s an internet outage, you won’t know it stops monitoring (unless you read your phone notifications when you sleep and your phone is not on wifi). This is extremely frustrating and dangerous.Other issues:4) Several times the temperature displayed in my APP (Android) and my wife (Iphone) are different temperatures. Also, the temperature picks up as the camera is use as it generates heat. It’s a joke.5) I cannot prove this as I don’t have testing equipment, but if there’s an internet outage the MIku seem to spam the router at high rate, there appear to be something really wrong or unpolished with their wifi/network module.My recommendation: do NOT buy, save your money to buy a good alternative. And by the way, beware of all online reviews that finger let you post comments. There’s videos on YouTube that can’t be trusted.
Miku is worth the investment
I have been through a few baby monitors and this one really is the genius of all monitors. The image quality is excellent, even the night vision which in most other monitors Iâve found to be poor quality. It has so many great features such as the ability to track babyâs breathing and movement patterns which has been very helpful for us. It has wifi technology which means it connects right to our smartphones which is very convenient. I highly recommend this monitor!
No trust. Garbage. Glitchy.
Other hype reviews are misleading. Yes when the camera works, the features are wonderful. But we simply cannot TRUST it.Very often we hear the baby crying from far and realize that the Miku is no longer connected. Nothing changed. The phone has been in standby the whole time but the app stops to work.Then we open the app wondering if baby is crying or not and itâs a still image of him from hours before… then it turns to a spinning wheel that sometimes resolves, sometimes turns to a black error screen… we never know with this garbage camera if its going to work or not.I have been going back and forth with Miku customer service for 3 months and now on my second camera and nothing is even remotely better. I have fibre optic internet and a high performance gigabit router meaning these issues are not on my end. Iâm done with this.All I want now is an old school radio frequency monitor. I just wish there was one that existed that also did breathing tracking.
Very impressed – easy to use and total feature package
I have been very impressed every step of the way using this product. The packaging and instructions made me feel like this was worth the price tag, and the setup of the devices was incredibly easy. Iâve found the app to include every feature Iâd be looking for, including serving as a white noise machine. Easy to see why this is a premium monitor – it shows!
Decent monitor quite pricey
The monitor has a little delay but that could be our internet. Our baby will start moving and the app will notify us after 30 sec to 1 min. The breathing monitor seems to work well for the most part however I do not trust it at all to notify us if she stops breathing since I picked her up and had her out of view of the monitor and an hour later the alarm went off to let us know it did not detect and breathing/movement- ideally that would have happened almost immediately. This has happened multiple times.
Love this monitor!!
I just bought this monitor for our 4th baby and love it!! Easy to install and set up. I love how well it monitors my baby and tracks her sleep. Seeing her respiratory waveform is a really great feature. The camera and sound are great. I chose this one largely because there are no devices attached to my baby. A huge plus. Love everything about this!
So far we are off to a great start. We haven’t had this camera for long so I will definitely be back to update the review as we use it more but so far things are great.Let’s start with packaging. The level of thought put into packaging and design already tells you that you are about to embark upon an amazing experience. The package includes absolutely everything you need to install the device. And by everything i mean EVERYTHING! Measuring tape, leveler, legitimate high quality screw driver and plastic covers to hide the cord. Instructions for installation were very clear and we were able to set it up in no time.Then comes installing the app, registering for an account and connecting your camera. Again fairly simple operation. I love the user experience on Apple devices. They also have instructional videos along the steps which make things much easier.And now comes the magical part. This thing actually works!!! There is nothing hooked onto my baby, she is lying there peacefully, free of any cables or anything that’s attached to her and I can actually see her live breathing activity on my phone. (I am sooo tempted to get into the crib myself and see my own breathing activity right now…!!!) You can also look at the stats, movement history, track the temperature and humidity, play sounds and music which can calm the baby down and improve sleep time. It also supports two way audio so you can talk to the baby. There is nothing like seeing your baby waking up and responding “Look who woke up. I will be right there honey”. 🙂 Not that she will understand or anything but she will definitely react to your voice.So, that’s it for now. If anything changes I will do my best to update the review. Also one last thing to note in terms of pricing, this camera is definitely on the high end price range and there are much cheaper good quality cameras but peace of mind you get with live breathing activity worth every penny. Plus you can always cast your phone to a TV or other devices if you would like to take things to a different level 🙂
The camera doesnât work on 3G so you canât see your baby if you are outside the house at work or other which defies the point of buying this camera. Miku support simply doesnât respond to confirm if itâs a glitch and whether it can be fixed.
Our baby hasn’t even arrived yet and we’ve already fallen in love with this device. The packaging, aesthetics, and how they’ve thought about everything; down to having a branded pencil and measuring tape makes for a functional product and stress-free experience… Which is all you want as a soon-to-be parent. This is an essential for first time parents.Thank you Miku!! We can’t wait to use it properly when our baby girl arrives.
TLDR; Interesting technology but horrible implementation with limited customer supportWe bought this Miku a few months before the birth of our child to use as a “Smart Baby Monitor” given all the touted features of a smart monitor + advanced breathing detection, great reviews and a nice $100 off deal. Fast forward, our child was born last week and I I immediately set it up. The Miku seemed to work fine out of the box for the first few days. The breathing monitor seemed like a cool feature, but honestly wasn’t very consistent (possibly because we use it with a Snoo smart crib that moves so it constantly detects motion). Other than that, the motion detection feature seemed to lag a bit but was manageable.Then about 7 days in, the nightmare began. I started getting alerts that the monitor was going offline. I would check the app, and couldn’t connect to the monitor to watch the stream. I turned if off and on again, and it seemed to connect back, but the stream became very laggy. Video would cut in and out and it just wouldn’t hold a proper stream. I reached out to tech support and got a response saying they sent a signal to my Miku to get it off standby and asked that I switch the stream to “Standard” quality vs “High Quality”. Followed those instructions and stream + connectivity seemed to get worse. (Also, what’s the point of buying an HD camera if you’re going to use Standard Quality?). I then began to wonder if it was my Wifi network (I’m running a 802.11ac MU-MIMO Router at 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz with 30+ devices connected without a problem). The Miku is placed a little bit further than my other devices, but it’s only about 75 feet away. I have 3 other connected devices that don’t seem to have issues connecting at that range, and I use my iPhone and iPad nearby daily (it’s next to our bed). Speedtests in that area are reading 200+Mbps Up and Down so I was certain it’s not an issue with my router or internet. That said, I went ahead and purchased a MU-MIMO extender to boost the range of my router to the room. With the extender, the Miku has a 150+Mbps Link Rate, but yet, I still CANNOT GET A WORKING STREAM OR CONNECTION.I’m beyond frustrated with this useless monitor. It can’t seem to do something a basic $40 wireless camera can do to hold a consistent stream. Every time I connect, it just hangs on “connecting”. I’ve reached back to customer support a number of times now and have gotten zero response. Every time I’ve called, I keep getting sent to voicemail. I’m now 3 days without a working baby monitor and have resorted to using a cheap audio monitor as a backup. I’ve spent 2 days trying to fix and diagnose this issue – very limited time I have while we deal with a newborn. There is NO WAY I can trust this device to be a reliable baby monitor. I’m also unfortunately just past the return period on Amazon – so much for buying something early on a good deal. I really wish I had bought the Nanit Plus.One more thing, the temperature readings on the monitor also seems to be consistent 2-4F higher than the actual room temperature. Not sure if it’s picking up extra heat from the monitor itself. I have a thermostat about 15 feet away to compare that. It’s not critical, but temperature is quite important since our baby is a bit under-weight.
My wife and I recently purchased this monitor for our first child. Once we ordered, we received our Miku much earlier than anticipated. After comparing what felt like hundreds of different monitors, we finally decided on the Miku, and we couldn’t be happier. As nervous first-time parents, we wanted a “smart” device that could monitor our baby and make sure they were sleeping safely. The breathing monitor has been great and helped ease our anxiety. We love that it accurately detects our baby’s breathing and movement without the need for any additional devices / wearables we have to put on our baby.Installation and set up was a breeze and easily installed to the wall over our child’s crib. It was easy to connect to the app and using the app is very intuitive and straight forward. The sleep statistics provided are helpful to see how our little one is sleeping each night. The picture and sound quality are crisp and clear. Weâve seen picture quality on other baby monitors that friends have, and this was much better! My wife loves that sheâs able to check the video from her phone even when sheâs not home and can check up on our little one. We also like that it tracks the temperature in the room. Since our nursery is on the second floor, it can be hard to keep temperature consistent, so we use the Miku to make sure the temperature is just right.This device checked all the boxes we were looking for in a baby monitor. It looks sleek, provides excellent audio and picture quality, and tracks breathing without the need for anything additional. Highly recommend!
