The Kinsho Story
Mom Founded, Mission Driven
kinsho is the self-knowledge and intuition gleaned from our many food experiences. We access these insights by paying attention.
Heather Sears started Kinsho after writing her 4x award-winning book, Mind to Mouth: A Busy Chick’s Guide to Mindful Meals.
She had found her increasingly mindless food habits and smart phone addiction had her choking during triple-tasking work lunches and making unhealthy (but fast!) food choices for herself and family.
She found that integrating mindful moments around food – shopping, prep and eating – helped her increase the healthfulness and pleasure of each bite. It also deepened her self-knowing as new food preferences emerged and old habits slipped away.
Additionally, she found that certain foodware designs were more helpful and enjoyable – such as bento boxes with specific design elements that support attentive eating, easier incorporation of a variety of food and healthier portions.
Kinsho creates well-designed reusable products and shares tips on bento meal prep and how mealtime mindfulness can support a deeper connection not just with the food we eat, but with ourselves, family and friends.
Kinsho’s award winning products are made with recyclable materials that are BPA and phlalate free. We partner with other women-owned businesses including our factories, shipping agents and registered dieticians that provide daily bento prep inspiration.

Not dishwasher safe!
When I first got these I washed them by hand before using them for the first time and they were great. Second time around I put them in the dishwasher (bottom of the containers have the dishwasher safe symbol and item description also says dishwasher safe) and upon trying to snap the lids on after taking them out of the dishwasher, the lids are now very hard to snap close and feels like they are warped and not sealing properly. Super disappointing.
Water ingress into base could breed mold
I was stoked to get these. They are perfect. But I went to wash them and noticed the base is made up of two layers, and Iâm afraid water could get under that seal, which isnât sealed really. I pried one open and saw soap and suds under there so sadly I have to return them. Mold will grow in there – probably not much, but not something for my kiddo. Im probably overreacting. The product is really good otherwise tho!!
Water inside
They are supposed to be dish washer safe. I have used them for a few months and now there is water trapped inside two of the containers I canât get it out I can hear it swishing around inside. I guess they are garbage now.
Change food taste
I tried the returned sank from daycare one day and it tasted like soap! It doesnât get washed properly in the dishwasher and effects the food.

Love these so much for packing my daughterâs preschool lunches in! They are the perfect size with multiple compartments to place lunch time favorites. Vibrant colors, easy to open and close, with clear lids to âeat with your eyes first.â Excellent find!
I bought this as an option for snack containers but it’s a lot bigger than expected. I can put a whole lunch in this for a kindergartener. Snack for an adult would be good in here, but for a small child way too big.However, packaging was amazing and quality is top notch. Unfortunately it just doesn’t work for our needs.
I’m a huge fan of bento boxes, and find these to be very helpful for prepping preschool snacks in advance. When I was on the hunt for bento boxes, I found that many were too large to fit into my daughter’s beloved crocodile creek two compartment lunch box. Sounds complex, but you don’t mess with the 4 year old!I would say they are moderately leak proof, though I’m not sending soup in a compartment in crackers in another. Instead our snacks are often sliced fruit, goldfish/pretzels, and a little treat. They are easy to clean – bottom part can go in the dishwasher and the lid is hand washable – just a quick wash with dish soap and sponge and you’re set. Portion size is ideal for preschool or elementary if only sending snack. I don’t think a sandwich would easily fit in this size. We have the next size up for our elementary school child and it works well for those needs.

My kids needed airtight snack size bento boxes for school so we took a chance on these. First impression was that they are very cute colors, a good size for snacks, a little hard to open because of the suction of the silicone but manageable enough for my 5 year old. I had read other reviews about not washing them in the dishwasher or they would get ruined so they were handwashed. Not even a week had passed since receiving them and my 5 year old’s box had pulled water through the seams somehow and had quite a bit of water stuck inside. I had to drill a hole in center of the bottom and squeeze it over the sink to force this water out. I was shocked how much water had collected inside of it just coming from the seams of the product. 2 of the 3 are still okay but I don’t expect them to last the whole school year or even the next few months.Update: All 3 have been ruined in a single trimester of school. 2 had water leak into them through the seams and one had mold grow in the silicone lid that would not come out after my son forgot watermelon in it over the weekend.
