Reinventing Classic Building Blocks with a Magnetic Twist
I picked up these OUXIA Magnetic Building Blocks for my toddler, and they’ve quickly become a favorite. They remind me of good old traditional building blocks but with a modern twist that adds a magnetic aspect.These blocks seem to fall right between standard building blocks and magnetic tiles, and I find them more toddler-friendly than typical magnetic tiles. They don’t have an overly strong magnetic hold, so creations can’t be picked up by holding the top block. While this means towers crash easily, it makes stacking higher structures more manageable for little hands.My child loves the bright, almost neon colors, although I can see how they might be overstimulating for some kids. And while the blocks are incredibly engaging and educational, they do require constant supervision due to the small magnets inside.Later on, I plan to use these blocks to introduce math concepts as my child grows. These blocks are alot of fun for all ages from toddler to adult.They are magnetic which makes it easy to build many different things.They are colorful and good quality.
An Important Cognitive Building Block for Kids Aged 3-7
Sometimes the simplest toys are the best. Building blocks help little ones develop many cognitive skills that aren’t obvious at first glance. It’s no surprise then that the two most widely used IQ tests for children and adults have a block design component to them.These come with their own velveteen carrying bag and suggestions for things to make with the blocks (see 1st photo). They are about 1.3 inches (35mm) on a side. Note the Toonie placed on one for scale. That makes them easier for little hands to manipulate. Magnets inside each block make it easier for younger children to be successful in building elaborate structures too. Note that the manufacturer acknowledges they are a choking hazard for children under 3, so adults should closely supervise their use in mixed age groups (see 2nd photo).There’s much more here than trying to mimic the structures in the booklet. Obviously, these can be a way of reinforcing colour identification. Counting how many of each colour is another obvious game with these. Most interesting (and related to those IQ tests) is for an adult to make a design and ask the child to make one like it. I expect these would be a big hit at the cottage on a rainy day.A simple, classic toy ideally suited for 3-7 year olds. My highest recommendation.
Magnetic blocks
Theses are great. The magnets arenât too weak as for the blocks to fall apart and arenât to strong to hurt or pinch a finger. My 1.5 yr old grand daughter had fun just pulling them apart and sticking them together. My grandson figured out he could find wall joists and was sticking the blocks to the wall, tables, fridge, car, anything he could put it against and it stuck to. I guess in a sense they are learning about what type of materials things are made of because they only stick to metal. So I think it was fun for my grand son to figure that out.Great toy I want to get some more so I have a bigger collection and kids can build a bit more.
Great for young kids
These magnetic building blocks are wonderful for little minds to create designs from their imagination. The blocks stick together well with the magnets and keep their shape. My son is having a blast making different creations like animals and buildings. Great for kids that are old enough not to put it in their mouths as I’m not sure it would be safe to chew on.
My toddler loves blocks, and she loves magnets, so this was an easy yes.My first impressions while opening:I like that it comes with a fabric drawstring bag for storage.I was not clear based on the picture that it was all just blocks. I thought they were assorted shapes. But that’s not necessarily a negative mark.No strong odor when opening.They “rattle” a bit, so I’m assuming the magnets are intentionally free in there to move. So, it’s not exactly like magnatiles where they snap into place.The strength of the magnets are pretty good! You can build a single stack tower easily, but once you knock it over, tilt it, or shake it, they come apart. Which is good and fine that they’re not too strong.
Finding engaging and educational toys for my preschool students is always a top priority for me. I recently introduced these blocks to my students and they have quickly become a beloved addition to all my centers. All my students were surprised to find out they are magnetic when they first took them out to use and that just made them even more excited and engaged. They were definitely eager to explore them! They have become so much of a classroom favorite that I had to divide them up to put a few at each center so more kids can have access to them at the same time. I will be ordering more and I recommend these to fellow teachers!
Nice magnetic building blocks.Have a good size to them as they fit in my little ones hand just right.Magnets are strong and they are easy to stack and put together.I have a set with bigger blocks but unfortunately they donât stick together as I think that the magnets are different.Overall great for even smaller kids than 2-3y old.
These have a glossy sheen to them, and the colors are very bright and vibrant. They stack well, and are a great size for the little ones hands. Magnetic feature works well, and have decent holding power. These do have a rattle – as if the magnet is loose inside the blocks, but doesn’t seem to impact their usability.
These blocks are fun and engaging for my students (Kindergarten). One set is perfect for a small group of students to work together on building. I may add another set because my class really enjoys these blocks! The magnetic feature works great and the blocks are vibrant and well made. Highly recommended!
