Great pump!
This is an excellent pump. At the hospital, the nurses told us that Medela and only a few other brands were any good, but they would not specify which brands, despite our asking. They did say that department store proprietary brands were no good. So I started looking for something… less expensive than the great Medela, which will basically cost you at least $300-$350 dollars for even the least expensive version.I found this pump and we both decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed.Pros:1- extremely quiet pump2- strong suction3- speed determined by user4- pump is comfortable5- price is not too highCons:1- there are a lot of parts, that is true, but when I carefully clean it, it takes me about 5 minutes of washing, and we hang dry it on a baby bottle rack that we got from the same company (separately). Putting it together takes about 40 seconds.Look, brass tacks: if you are slow, and everything takes you longer, don’t buy this, because washing will be a pain. But if you can live with having to wash all the parts (4 parts x 2 sides = 8 parts to clean [plus the bottles]), this is a great quality buy. I believe it to be equal to the Medela line.And really, quality comes first. I personally don’t care how many parts there are.Hope this helps.
Not worth it!
I have tried many pumps between my two children due to issues with not being able to breastfeed. I have tried three different Medela pumps, One Ameda pump and now this pump. I wanted to go with another company other than Medela because even though I love many of their products I find their pumps to be too aggressive. What I mean is even the correct size of shields and a low setting I find the suction too much and also their pumps are very loud. I was not overly impressed with Ameda because to me they are essentially Medela just without the quality.This pump was much quieter than any of the other pumps I have tried. The thing is it has way too many parts. At first it doesn’t seem like a big deal but when you’re pumping a lot all that cleaning takes a lot of valuable time away. The many parts are a complete nuisance if you have to pump at night. I got to the point where I actually just stopped pumping during the night because it was too much hassle to put everything together and then clean it afterwards.The milk containers also leak and the silicon breast shield pad often gets a build up of milk underneath it and ends up leaking all over you. The only way to avoid it is to be hunched over and that is not comfortable at all. The controls are frustrating and annoying. This pump is essentially a glorified manual pump.The biggest annoyance was that it broke within the first 4 weeks of having it. Slowly the suction became less powerful and the pump became louder until it made a grinding and hissing sound while producing a howl stench. I of course informed Avent about my issue and they promised to send me another pump immediately. It broke on a Sunday evening and they promised that I would have a new pump by Tuesday. Tuesday came and went with no new pump because the Canadian Avent warehouse had been out of stock for days already and had no idea when new stock would be coming in. If I had not contacted them I doubt I would have known they were out of stock.The second issue was that while using this pump my milk supply suffered. I had used a hospital grade pump to establish and maintain my supply and at first this pump was very comparable to hospital grade in terms of pumping time and amounts expressed but very quickly the results became poor and not just compared to a higher grade pump but to any pump I have used. I would pump day and night and sell my supply would not improve even with supply aids. When my pump broke I switched to a Medela pump because choices seemed rather limited and within a few days I could clearly see that the Avent pump was not at all draining my breasts well.I know this is a cheaper pump and Avent is usually an ok brand but don’t waste your money.
GREAT PUMP!
Love this pump!! Lets just say it works a little too well, I had to stop using it for awhile because it was making me produce TOO much milk! It cleaned me out better then my son would and I was pumping 4oz on one side in under 10 minutes with it. Nice thing about it too is that for about 15$ you can purchase the parts to turn it into a manual pump so it is essentially three pumps in one. There’s so many other pros to this pump but I’m too lazy to write them all, but I highly recommend this pump!

Great quality at good price. It pumps fast and is easy to use. One can control it while holding bottle in both hands, this is very good. It can clean out milk better than the baby.
