I got this to gift to my son’s 4th grade teacher. It’s been a hit for every indoor recess that they’ve had!! The kids love it and it’s very versatile. Something to create with but also great for kids who need to fidget.
Our grandsons, 2 and 5 years old, really enjoy playing with the building blocks. While the 2-year-old cannot snap the pieces together, he understands enough that heâll hand me a piece, tell me where he wants it connected, and then let me snap the pieces together. The 5-year-old immediately grasped the concept of how to twist and snap the pieces together and he quickly linked a long chain together. What Iâm really going to enjoy is watching the 2-year-old get to the point where he can snap them together himself, and for the 5-year-old to start making 3-dimensional structures instead of just a long chain.I found the pieces do snap together easily, and itâs also easy to take them apart for storage in the bag thatâs included in the box. At first I found the photos of different structures that can be built frustrating because you couldnât see the details on how everything is snapped together. But then I realized thatâs the way it should be; this is a STEM toy and therefore concepts should be good enough and the user must think about how to build the various structures. The box says there are 270 pieces and while I didnât count them to verify that number I was amazed at the big pile of pieces when I dumped them out of the box. There are certainly enough pieces to keep these boys entertained for quite some time.
I didnât find lots of things that the students could construct because there was not a flat surface
My 5 year old granddaughter found it difficult to put the pieces together so she lost interest in playing with them. Maybe this is better for older kids.
This is unlike any building sets Iâve seen so I had to try it out with my grandson. The âfenceâ shaped pieces are all the same, just different colors and there are a lot of them. The diagonal corners have either a small peg or a hole to connect them with. My only comment on that is that the both pegs on each piece face the same way, requiring an over/under connection – if at least some of the pieces had opposing facing pegs it would extend the possibilities of building. What is super unique about this set though is that the pieces are made of a silicone type, rubbery material so you can bend and twist them to connect in endless ways. You can even roll and stick them through the openings to create new forms. Really leaving it open to the imagination.Would be cool if they designed a set with different shapes included as well instead of just rectangles. Comes with a storage bag for easy clean-up. Great gift idea.
