What I Like – I have 20 Ring cameras and they continue to impress me. This outdoor plugin camera is a really easy install, especially if youâve done it before. I always suggest a mount if youâre going outside, just for ease of placement. The picture quality is fantastic on the app, and really lets you see people, cars, animals etc in detail. The motion detection is top notch, and gives you the opportunity to really customize settings to make it work for you. A perfect addition to your home for some added security and piece of mind.What I Donât Like – Nothing yet.

Easy Setup, Work Well, Battery Life Far Shorter Than Advertised
I started with a Ring doorbell and decided to add some cameras along the way. The stick up cams are quite easy to set up and add to your Ring account. It will add some yearly costs to Ring Protect if you go that way, but for 3 cams and my doorbell I’m paying $16CAD for the service, which seems reasonable in the case the footage is needed for some sort of insurance or whatnot in the future.There are a couple things I wish worked a bit better:1. The color night vision is meh. I have it off on all cams.2. Detecting a person takes several seconds and ends up with the recording capturing about 1/2 or less of the person passing through the covered zone. You can alleviate some of this with linked recordings (I link my front yard camera to the side so they trigger together) but that does shorten battery life.3. The biggest over sell for this product is the batter life. Cams delivered June 28, today is July 20 and I have low battery warnings on 2 cameras. I understand that various settings eat into batter expectations, but “6-12 months” is just wildy out of touch with reality.For the battery life, I had the forethought to mount the cameras outside a window within arms reach so I don’t have to get a ladder to remove/charge the batteries… except for one that I had no choice but to place where it is in order to cover my back yard. I will likely get a solar panel for that one.Don’t forget to buy ceiling mounts if you are placing them on the eaves of your house or want them on a wall but facing 90 degrees to that wall, like down the side of your house.I wish there were more settings for how linking works. I’d love Backyard to always trigger Side and Front to always trigger Side, but also Side to trigger back IF front triggered Side. That kind of logic would allow me to make sure I capture someones full passage from my front yard to the side walkway to the back yard seamlessly, without just triggering all 3 cameras every time one goes off.All in all, I like these and think they are good value, especially on the big sale days like Prime Day or BFCM.
