I live these containers for freezing in! It’s the perfect size for 1 to 2 servings of things in. So far I have frozen sloppy jo meat (which makes enough for 2 per square), homemade soups, spaghetti, chicken, homemade broths and makeing mini meatloafs. I recommend lining the squares with cling wrap for easy removal and cleanup. I also like wrapping up for continued freezer time.the containers have been easy to use. It is very functional for portion control. I’ve not had any trouble with staining or leftover smells as I wait till items are cooled down before placing into (or lining) the containers. It is easy to pop the food out as the compartments are flexible enough thus not creating cracks or rips. Plan to buy more in this size and other sizes for freezing my fresh herbs in.
I bought these because I make homemade broth once a month, and freeze it for later use. I’m also working towards a non-toxic kitchen which made silicone the best option for this purpose.Pros: The biggest pro is that each square holds 2 cups (4 cups total) and has markers to let you know when it it full, why is 4 cups so important? That is the full volume of a normal carton of broth and a perfect amount for freezing. I could easy pop out the frozen items, they are easy to fill and it doesn’t effect taste of your foods.Cons: the lids don’t fit quite as tightly as I would like, but that’s the only negative I have.
i love these soup cubes. i use them for everything from soup to chili to rice. they feel nice and durable and the soup doesn’t spill out because the rims don’t collapse. putting hot soup in, does not burn your hands on the outside. i have several sets of these and they all fit well in my freezer.my two cons to these would be the lid and labeling. the lid would really be better if it was somehow separated into two parts. it can be problematic when trying to only empty one soup cube, to try and keep the other from falling out at the same time. in terms of labeling, do not use a dry erase marker, it will never come off. stickers do not hold to it either, so i have yet to find a way to properly label what is in the cube/the date.overall the pros highly outweigh the cons and i can’t recommend these enough. they definitely feel worth the price.
I love that itâs food grade silicone, making it easy to use and clean. The size is perfect for what I need! I tested with a 1 cup measuring cup and itâs true to its descriptions. Each square fits 2 cups, making it 8 cups in total if you use both containers. When removing it comes off easily. And a bonus is the color 🙂
I like these but they need better fitting lids. I use them mostly for freezing soups. Once the soup is frozen, I transfer it to freezer bags. The cubes are easy to remove and the trays clean easily. They hold 2 cups after liquid with space to expand. I wouldn’t suggest them for any long term storage because of the loose fitting lids. Their value is in less food waste.
