Difficult to set up cellphone app
The product is beautiful in nice box. Product looks good quality. It was difficult to set up and several errors in the programming of the themes and software. Attached is a screenshot from my phone of the Star Settings page I had trouble with and described below.SETUPSome of the written instructions are unclear or not quite in the right order of steps. Here is what worked for me best to add it to my existing Smart Things app: Do step B on page 5 of the instruction booklet up to entering your Wifi password but do not click ENTER or CONTINUE yet. (We used another cellphone with a 2.5 GHz mobile hot spot as our “internet” for this step because our modem is 5 GHz). Now do step 4 on page 5. Plug in the power to the projector. It will say “Bluetooth connected” and you can ignore this because you must set it up over Wifi. (The Bluetooth you will use later for connecting to your phone’s music after setup.) Slide the power button on the back of the unit ON and OFF about 10 times (about 1 or 2 seconds between) until the LED stops projecting a scene and instead projects a WHITE LIGHT. At first it flashed/blinked slowly then faster. Now go back to the Smart Things app and click ENTER or CONTINUE. You must do this while the white light is flashing. I didn’t connect for me the first try and timed out. I had to repeat everything but then it worked the second time. I do not know why. Wait until the timer icon finishes and it gives you a successful message. Next the “Music Aurora Light” software will open. If it doesn’t automatically open after adding the device to your Smart Things account, just click the light in device list and it will open. There is a translation error in the software. Where it says “breathe” it means blinking lights.SOFTWARE NOT RIGHT / ERRORSThe first BIG PROBLEM I’m struggling with is under the setting for the Stars. I can not get the Stars to be white like real stars in the sky. They come with green as the default. I would like white stars as seen from planet Earth. There are no places on Earth where the stars in the sky are green! On the photo on the box itself, and in the background photo of the Star settings screen I can see white stars are an option, but I am unable to find the instructions in the booklet or in the software settings to change the stars to white. I can not seem to be able to change the color of the stars anywhere. I can only make them blink and fade at different speeds or in custom scenes turn off the stars.Also I feel the advertising on the programmed themes is misleading. If you choose Festival > Valentine you do not get cupids and hearts as shown, in fact you don’t even get a red theme–it’s purple and blue. The other themes which show birthday cakes, Christmas trees, pumpkins, and other holiday icons — it does not display those images through the projector. You may not even get the right colours that go with those holidays. The Halloween theme icon is an orange pumpkin, but you will not get a pumpkin or even orange color projected. You will get a red swirl theme. Whoever programmed these themes did not get the colors of the lights matched to the holiday themes or the theme icons. There are no icons or images projected either!Another area of difficulty is that the software in Scenes > Recommended Scenes does not always seem to be communicating correctly with the machine or it was programmed wrong. For example in the Nature category, selecting “Winter” does not change the scene to the dark grey / blue / white theme shown on the icon. Instead, the aurora stays Rainbow colors. Choosing “Aquamarine” did work.I tried the Custom Themes with limited success and still could not get the stars to change to any color other than green.I was able to Bluetooth pair my phone to the speaker on the projector to play some music and the sound quality was good. I was not able to get the lights to flash with the music as advertised in the music settings options. I did not try out the white noise feature.My goal was to try to find a projector that would 1) display a real looking night sky with white stars and the aurora borealis. It appears not possible. 2) bonus if the projector could project holiday themes like Christmas, Halloween images. This one does not. Given that the product does not meet what it is advertised to do and sadly I can not program it myself to do what I need it to do, I will likely be returning it.The quality of this projector is excellent in both image and sound. Where it could be better improved are the instructions, matching the correct colours to Western countries holidays, and modifying the wording of its descriptions to not over promise what the product offers. Unlike other projectors, it does not actually project any icon or image, only swirling auroras.

Was decent for the first few months but then it started to fail, part by part. The voice thing kept randomly activating, one of the waves of lights stopped moving. Then the moving stop all together. Then it would blink and get progressively faster like it was going to explode or something.

I’ve had a light that tried to be like this before. It was pretty, but this? This light is phenomenal. I’ve never seen such a trippy light show on my own ceiling. Love that I can control it with the remote, and app, or buttons on the device. You can change everything about the light display, even making the stars pulse or be steady or just turn off so you only have the aurora. Has some beautiful built-in sounds and plays anything via Bluetooth – sounds great.

The projection is great. The sounds aren’t very soothing. The remote is more complicated than necessary.Not a huge fan of this machine. It would be great for parties and a certain atmosphere, but not for nightly use to use a soothing sound machine.We ordered this for our 4 year old because his projecting sound machine broke and he has trouble sleeping without it. They no longer make the one he used and this appeared to be similar. It was not. It was more complicated than it needed to be, the app doesn’t work, and the sounds were not soothing. The projector however, amazing! It even works in the daylight.
