Tabi socks, or split-toe socks, have been in Japanese culture for a very long time. They were developed to wear with sandals & wooden clogs called geta. There is a special place for your big toe. Lots of people wear tabi socks: martial artists practicing Aikido or Karate, Taiko drummers, Suzuki actors, and traditional Japanese folk dancers, just to name a few! According to Shiatsu theory, wearing tabi socks benefits the back, the spine, and the digestion due to the acupuncture meridians located between the toes. This separation gives your toes the toe wiggling freedom they deserve, as they separate naturally to increase flexibility and strengthen the muscles in the foot.

My granddaughter was going to wear Kimono and I looked for a little childâs tabi (Japanese socks). Real tabi will be very uncomfortable for a little child so I looked for reviews and ordered this. This is an easiest and size for a child and adult. I am so glad I found it! It didnât make difference if she had real tabi socks or this socks! I am 100% satisfied!
Good fit for child size
These socks were a perfect fit for my 9 year old who wears a size 4 shoe.
And theyâre not a one size fits all for tall, men, like myself, however, my little boy was very delighted when I gave him the black pair, and he went running around, wanting to wear them all day, because he really did feel like a ninja wearing his TABI socks! Itâs really really cool that it comes with two different colors depending on whether or not, you want to hide in the dark, or hide in the snow, when your ninja training! If you are getting these, because for some reason, youâre crazy enough to want to wear socks and sandals sure, go ahead thatâs great, but I hope youâre doing at the traditional Japanese way.
Tabis are underrated, honestly, they’re the best sock style. These are just ok. The material is a bit thin and scratchy, lacking stretch. If worn occasionally I don’t think they’ll last very long. Kids are just so hard on their socks and these will get holes very fast. Not too impressed with the material used, but a two pack for the price isn’t bad!
