I really like this gate for between rooms. Took me about 40 minutes to measure, put in screw tightners, screw in pieces and pop the gate on. You need a 5/16 drill bit to predrill holes. Then you use these screw tightners that are hammered into the predrill hole. They give you extra which I needed because they kept bending. Nice extra is the side pieces have a sticky tape, so you put the gate up and when you press against the wall the sticky tape holds the pieces so predrilling is so much easier. Then it’s just attach the gate stretch it out to put up the other side pieces. Again all easy except for putting the screw tightner in (picture above). First picture is all done. I would not use for stairs but you can and there is a piece to keep the gate flush with the floor. There is a button that you push up before the gate will roll or unroll. It’s a well made sturdy gate, but again I worry about using on stairs with kids.

I was really excited to find this retractable gate on Amazon because I need to keep my dogs out of the kitchen and I hate having to walk and maneuver a “gate” everytime.I love how quickly it attached to the wall with brackets. My husband put some wood blocks behind the cabinets to make sure the screws had extra support. The gate is light and easy to take down when I need to. Its height is perfect, 22 inches, for keeping the dogs out while still letting me step over it when I want to leave the kitchen.I chose the light gray color and in blends in nicely with the room; you can see it, but it isn’t stealing the show. The dogs respect it, even though two of them could probably jump over it, and I can put it up in a pinch. An unexpected joy is that I can close the short hair dogs off while I am loading the long hair ones to go to the groomers! Usually it is a big ordeal. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5.

We got this to block off out stair case from our toddler. So far it is working well. recoil spring is strong enough to get the job done and it is fairly heavy duty material too. Need to pick up a second one for the upstairs access.
