  1. Free apps for kids
I almost purchased a used market place apple tablet but was dreading paying for individual kid apps and dealing with if it worked properly. Came across this amazing kids tablet with free year to some pretty fantastic kids apps. Only issue I have is the ram is on lower side and I don’t like how I couldn’t find support to talk to someone. I wanted to set up the tablet and have it all ready for the grandkids, pretty much plug and go for their parents but it wouldn’t let me without registering on my account. I had some questions but only could find self help answers which didn’t answer my problem.

  2. Great starter tablet
Great starter tablet. You can use the child profile with amazin kids or a regular profile to download some android apps. No youtube on amazon kids which is great, but on the regular profile only youtube is available and not youtube kids. Everything is password protected so the parental features are great, you can set it up on your phone and see what they were doing and for how long. **Also has a setting to control the volume!!!*** awesome feature! My son has been using it lightly for about 5 months months now, about an hour or so every other day. It still works great but its getting a little slow, some apps on amazon won’t download and i can’t figure out why since there’s still plenty of space left on it with a memory card. However he enjoys it and its a great one to start off with for a great price.

  3. Holds up well with rambunctious little kids
We’ve had this tablet for 3 years and it’s been great! The only frustration is the internal storage: there isn’t enough. We manage this by uninstalling apps to make room for more but this frustrates my 3 year old who cannot do this on his own. This tablet has gone through two kids and I’m impressed with the case that has help protect the tablet from many many many drops and splashes. It’s durable. I would recommend a wired headset instead of a blue tooth because the connection doesn’t always work as quick as kids would like. The bonus with any fire tablet is the free Amazon Kids subscription for a year. The kids really enjoy the variety of games and I like the ability to customize their profiles. Definitely worth the price and I will be choosing a Fire tablet when it’s time for an upgrade rather than spending more money on a very expensive “fruity” option.

  4. Great ‘Toddler’s 1st’ tablet
I’m glad my child is not missing youtube videos while playing with this tablet. The games are for her age group.I saw an advancement within a few weeks of using it.(Not knowing how to navigate and play certain games and videos, to telling me “I don’t need help mommy”)Battery life is good.Great value for your money ($80)Was a bit difficult for me to get it going and understand that I can switch accountsRecommend!

  5. Kid approved!
Very sturdy and resistant to drops and spills.

  6. First impressions: Terrible ==> Follow up, it gets worse…
Update:My goodness this is a bad device. I am doing a second return. The issue is, aside from the SD card becoming incompatible for a third time on the new device, it just randomly did a factory reset. Amazon confirmed this occurred at 6:31am the one day and that it is not possible through the kids profile, and 100% me and my wife were sleeping at that time (it was a few days ago). So the device just factory reset itself, now the SD card is incompatible again, I had to reset the kids profile again, and the worst thing is after all of this hassle, the kids profile is frozen and can’t be fixed (stuck in the initial loading screen). So now they have to send me a third device…I asked Amazon if I could just return this device and get a refund or, more preferably, a credit, so that I could just buy my kid an older refurbished iPad for $150 more, because at least I know an iPad has some solid durability, speeds, and usability, but I was told I couldn’t do that…. Bummer… I’m just going to sell this device myself and use that towards buying her an iPad.I do not recommend this Fire tablet at all.Original:I’m not an Apple vs Google guy by any means. I’ve used many google devices (S3, S5, S6, A50, Pixel 6A, Hawaii Media Pad) and a few Apple devices (6S, 11 Pro, iPad ?? Gen)… I’ve also used Amazon OS devices and I cringe at Amazon OS to be honest… but anyways, for the device. My sister used this and only Google OS devices. She praised this tablet and, upon startup, I almost jus threw it out (obviously not, but you get my point). It was extremely glitchy and laggy just in the initial start up… why? There’s nothing on the device yet, there’s no excuse at all other than it has Amazon OS, which has an extremely long record of just being a terrible OS (seriously Amazon, just pay the extra to Google and use Android OS). My expectations weren’t that high to be honest, but they sunk lower just from this starting experience.Anyways, moving on. The startup mentions downloading an app through a QR code on a parents device. This, I expected, would be used to grant an okay for app download requests. Turns out you can get notified they requested to download something, but you can’t approve or deny it…. Why create this app at all lol what a waste of development. You must use your email still, and maybe that’s just an iOS issue, but nonetheless why not just create an app that is basically a web browser to bypass iOS paywalls? How was this not considered…Okay, so you get through the cringy startup before your first use. Now what? Well, more issues IMO. I already approved some apps during the initial startup…. But where are they? And if my kid requests to download an app, and I approve it (again, through my email because the app is pointless), why does it not just automatically download the app…. Does Amazon think the kid requested my approval for bragging rights? Or me approving it just to show my kid “hey, yeah I trust you”? I mean, like what!Uhmmm, I don’t know… first thoughts and impressions are brutal. It’s almost like this device was made for kids, by kids. Obviously not, the OS is already super slow (probably not even worth it to add storage because that’ll be slower), the parental controls app doesn’t even work, the request to download doesn’t mean download upon parental approval, the layout looks sloppy to say the least, and just, I don’t know… it’s Amazon OS.Amazon, you guys make tons of money. How is your app development slacking so far behind so many others. It makes your devices laughable… in all honesty, this will likely be our first and last device one.I’m all fairness, my kid has zero issues using the device herself after I’ve dragged my way through the installation.

  7. Super easy set up
Great for kids and such an easy set up. I love that you can remove content that you don’t want your kids to use.A bonus is that it was delivered so quickly a few weeks before Christmas.

  8. Very limited
This tablet is very limited. YouTube is not compatible, the app store is also not available. You are limited to Amazon apps which is fine, but do not offer many great games for kids. This product already had to be returned and exchanged for a new tablet because of a system error. The best thing about this tablet is that it has a 2 year warranty guarantee. It is also pretty durable because of the case it has. My review is mostly based on the limitation of the apps it has.
