Works great with great features
My baby just started on purees, and I’ve been steaming on the stove then transferring to an immersion blender. While this product isn’t a “need” if someone has a steamer and blender, it’s certainly a handy product to have.Pros:- A timesaver compared to a separate steamer and blender as there’s fewer dishes and the steamer doesn’t require babysitting.- Instructions are pretty thorough and though the English isn’t perfect all the time, it’s easy to understand- Nice and compact (approx. 23 in long, 21 in high, 13 in wide).- Everything has a good seal- Simple to use: add water to the steamer, add food to the steamer basket, set the dial for the desired steaming time (there’s even suggested times in the instructions for many foods). After it’s steamed, dump it into the blender then blend.- My FAVOURITE part is the ease of cleaning the blade. The blade can actually be removed, which is a HUGE plus- Having seen the price of some baby food mixers/blenders/etc., the current price ($79.99) seems like a good deal to me, especially since it also steams the food.Opportunities:- It comes with a little flat thing sort of like a tongue depresser to put into the steamer basket when it’s done. This is so you can easily lift it out then dump its contents into the blender without touching it. It works great but I wish it were a little longer as one side of the basket only has an inch or so sticking out.So far I’ve used this once and my food was smaller than the 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm suggested, so I actually had to use my immersion blender to blend it. The food was moving around well, it was just too small for the blades to do much. If I had followed the instructions and used food of 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm then I’m certain it would’ve blended appropriately.Overall, this is a great baby food maker that I’m excited to use more. I’ll update my review once I have the opportunity to use it for food of an appropriate size.

Saves time and effort
Our grandkids are too old for baby food, but we do still have to make it for some baby animals that we care for.The old way we do it is to use separate appliances in multiple steps. This machine basically keeps much of the work contained to this small unit!The machine itself has a chamber for water, and one where you steam and blend the food (in two steps).There is a single dial to set the timer, and pushing that knob will trigger the blender feature. You must do this without the steamer basket installed!Steaming takes a few minutes to get going, so I’d personally suggest using the timer for no less than 10 minutes.Once the food is steamed, you can remove the steamer basket (carefully, because it will be hot), dump the contents into the empty container, and close the lid. You can then blend.Once blended, you can transfer the content of your food into your jars or another container.The whole process is pretty easy, and cleanup is fairly quick, too. One thing in particular that’s different from other small blenders or food processors, is the ability to remove the blade from the canister. This isn’t something you often see, but it really helps to make deep cleaning easier.One thing you are told is to make sure that the food you put into the unit are in 1cm cubes. We use frozen corn, green peas, and sweet potato, which are conveniently sized small, but just be aware that some extra effort will be needed if you are using larger food items.At the time of this review, this unit is listed for $69.99 less a $10 coupon, which is less than the cost of having to get separate appliances for steaming and blending.
