We originally got this as a gift for our son before he was born. When he was a newborn he didn’t really care for it, but within a few months, he got super attached to this and it was the most adorable thing ever–he would rub the ears of the monkey with his thumb and index finger while nursing. Even if it was dark and he could not see it, he could magically find the monkey’s ears. Our son is almost 19 months old now and this is still very special to him. We had to buy him this because we lost the original one at the mall. I’m glad that he has this comfort item because it does exactly that–comforts him (most of the time) when he’s super tired or cranky. He knows who “Monkey” is and knows to look for it when he wants it! It’s also adorable and ultra soft, and can get thrown in the washer.
I have twin baby boys and we were given a hippo and zebra Angel Dear blankie as a gift when they were about three months old. They are now six months and never sleep without them! They rub them against their faces and rub them between their hands as a soothing technique and as a result rarely cry when I put them down for naps. I bought a twin set of monkeys so I can have spare while I throw the others in the wash. They wash well, are super soft, and my babies love them. I like them more than other blankies because they are lighter and softer. The heavier materials concern me about suffocation. You can put these right up to your mouth and nose and still breath through them. Other reviews have mentioned about loose ears being a choking hazard. I’ve pulled on all the ones I have and they seem very securely sewn. I highly recommend these blankies!!
My daughter received an Angel Dear blankie (the duck) as a gift and they have become inseparable. So much so that I had to google on line to figure out how I could get another so we could wash one at a time. Best features: extremely soft; I love that the head of the character is smaller, some other brands are so big they are awkward to snuggle up to; they have a great selection of characters/animals it’s fun to personalize it a little; you can buy 2!!!!!! which is imperative if they become attached; lastly, it’s a great size, not too big and small enough my daughter can carry it and it rarely ends up dragging on the ground. We are expecting a boy in May and we chose the monkey and he is ready to be loved on!
