I ramble – consider yourself warned.To set the scene, it was three days before Easter Sunday, and plans suddenly changed to include family coming to me for Easter, in tow with a very excitable 5 year old.Add that to the fact that we have very recently taken in 2 rescue bunnies into our home that no one had met yet? I knew what a top tier auntie would do. It’s Easter-hunt-plus-anthropomorphising-inanimate-objects-and-pets time!In our family we never really did the huge chocolate haul, but there was sometimes a small toy or new pjs or something as an Easter gift, so I thought I’d spoil him and do both.Introducing the power of next day delivery from Amazon and the newly named Milo the Dino.The little ted itself is really lovely, a good weight with beans in his big ole feet. A lovely green and gorgeous sparkle through his eyes too.Anyway, for those interested, let’s get back to the easter hunt! Our Rabbits ‘wrote’ my nephew a letter to ask him to help find all the chocolate bunnies that had escaped their enclosure, and maybe their rabbit friend ‘Milo’ could help? But he was hiding too 😲!In comes this gorgeous little dinosaur, wearing one of those ‘wash-your-face head-band-things’ for bunny ears, with another letter explaining that he was actually a dinosaur but don’t tell the real bunnies!Joy ensued and chocolate was found and shared, and Milo the Dino was basically velcro-ed to my nephew for the next 5 days, including a trip on the train to London and out to lunch, where they wore matching ears and told every person that gave him the slightest opportunity all about it.At first I was a little apprehensive about buying a near 6 year old a cuddly toy rather than his go to stuff. He generally prefers to play hot wheels and solid toys, and moved away from soft toys some time ago. But then I challenged my weird fleeting perspective (weird societal pressures and bias against boys not wanting soft things I reckon) and I’m glad I did. I’m 30 and would happily still receive a bear as a just-because gift so why not- who doesn’t like a cuddle, right?!Anyway, all in all, this little Dinosaur gained me some serious auntie points, and Milo has apparently been promoted to top bunk (sleeps in the bed) status!If you too want to gain some points with a small human who LOVES dinosaurs at Easter, grab some Lindt bunnies, some rabbit spa headbands and spend an inordinate amount of time decorating and handwriting letters – it will only take you hours of prep for a 5 minute activity!!I promise I’m done now.
