This stroller is a dream, easy fold and such a smooth ride. I will warn that it is heavy, but most high quality joggers are. I have this stroller and the babyjogger city select 2 and both are very high quality. They feel more lux than uppababy in my opinion. Since these things go on sale regularly (I bought both mine at least $200 under original price), you cannot beat the value for the money. I have a babyjogger car seat also- itâs nice but I wouldnât go over budget for it. The strollers however, canât be beat.
I did a lot of research on different jogging strollers (although I was looking more for a stroller that would easily go through grass, uneven pavement, and pebbles.) That stroller is perfect for that and at a good price point! We love the magnetic openings on the sun shade and the large basket at the bottom. If you are debating get it!!!
The gold standard for me has been my BOB, so that’s what I’m comparing the Summit to.The ride height of the child is slightly higher than my BOB, the seat is a couple inches narrower, and the wheels are slightly closer together. None of this changes the maneuverability, though, as both strollers are just as easy as the next to turn and handle. The ride is equally smooth for the Summit as it was for the BOB. Actually, this stroller is smoother than the BOB because it has suspension on the rear and front wheels. The front suspension, however, does cause issues with maintaining a straight line with the front wheel locked: sometimes the front will “bounce” slightly, which causes the wheel to turn slightly because the locking mechanism has a spring that’s holding the wheel straight—so each bounce allows the spring to turn the wheel ever so slightly. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable when running. This stroller has a handbrake, the BOB did not. I do not use it, and, in fact, it is mounted on the crossbar where you hold the stroller—so it actually gets in the way. However, I can appreciate it as a nice safety feature.Speaking of the crossbar: the handle is wrapped with a rubber grip. This is the biggest knock I have on this stroller: when you sweat, that grip becomes super slick. When it’s dry, the grip is grippier than the foam one on the BOB, but the second it gets any moisture on it, you have problems maintaining a handle on it.The only other knock I have for it is the canopy. When fully drawn, the canopy covers the child’s head from direct sunlight, which is an awesome feature. However, the canopy has flaps to allow you to open up the canopy for breeze and light with the canopy still fully drawn—but those flaps have no way of being secured except a small magnet in the corner of each. The BOB had elastic drawstrings to keep the canopy flaps pulled up, which worked much better than little magnets. All things considered, these knocks aren’t enough for me to drop a full star. If I could do 4.5 stars, I would, mainly because of the rubber grip (which I could consider a safety concern). But if you’re only walking and not running, the grip wouldn’t matter (thus the half star knock). The ride is super smooth, the reclining mechanism works quickly and easily, the canopy gives great sunlight coverage, and the stroller is well-built and sturdy. I’ve put about 50 miles of running on it and it’s really a great stroller for running. Other than the rubber grip, I would have this over my BOB.
So far so good, works as it should. Happy with the big wheels, just wish they had better storage options like cup holders. The break also works great, was worried it would be too strong but was pretty much near-perfect out of the box.
This was super easy to assemble, and was up and ready to go in about five minutes after taking it out of the box a quick pump of air in the tires and I was off and running and the stroller is very smooth even on tough terrain. Itâs easy to fold up and pack especially if youâre traveling and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a jogger stroller.
