The Magic Sleepsuit is a patented swaddle transition product that helps transition babies from the swaddle by providing them with a cozy, secure feeling. The Magic Sleepsuit was created by a mother of four who is a pediatric physical therapist to improve the quality and duration of her babies’ sleep. The Sleepsuit is designed for back sleeping in the bare crib only in a room at the recommended temperature for babies. The Magic Sleepsuit should not be used for co-sleeping or with any sleep positioners. The Cotton Magic Sleepsuit has a soft, breathable jersey cotton inner and outer layer with a layer of polyfil in between for just enough comfort. The Magic Sleepsuit is designed to be introduced at approximately three months of age when babies are transitioning from the swaddle. Proper fit and timing of introduction are critical to the safety and effectiveness of the Magic Sleepsuit. Babies should be transitioned out of the Magic Sleepsuit when they roll over or try to roll over in it and are ready for more freedom of movement in their sleep. The Baby Merlin’s Cotton Magic sleepsuit has a soft and breathable jersey cotton inner layer, a soft cotton outer layer and a layer of polyfil in between for just enough comfort. Also, available in cozy microfleece.
My baby instantly slept great in this and did not need any trial period. It has been a huge help since he had outgrown his swaddles but definitely could not sleep well with arms completely free yet. I only docked a star for a couple of reasons: 1)The package did not come with any explanations of how the product should fit (though you can find this info on their website, it would have been nice to have a print-out or something). 2) It says online that it should not touch the babyâs chin but I have found this to be a little unrealisticâmy babyâs chin does touch the top of the zippered parts simply because the sleep suit is kind of bulky, especially when he was at the bottom of the weight range. While I appreciate the warning it did make us a little paranoid that it could possibly block his breathing so we were extra vigilant the first week or two and constantly checking on the baby. After a while we relaxed and realized that while it does still touch his chin in some instances, there is no concern about it affecting his breathing at all since it never comes up high enough to block his nose.It says that the baby can be lightly clothed underneath but I have just kept mine unclothed in a diaper underneath because we have had some triple-digit heatwaves and our house doesnât cool down to the ârecommendedâ temperature for babies until the very early morning hours. I am worried about him overheating since this suit is so puffy. It is cotton which is breathable but the fill is synthetic poly, so sort of negates a bit of that breathability. He seems to have been fine with just a diaper underneath.
Iâm not sure why this magical thing is not Amazonâs number 1 baby registry item! This thing is amazing! My son would not sleep unless he was laying on someoneâs chest, which I didnât mind all the snuggles, but I couldnât put him down with out him waking up. I was told to let him cry it out. Yeah, more like mom cry it out and die a thousand deaths listening to your sweet little baby cry like that. Someone on a Facebook mom page recommended this. I was skeptical, no way this thing worked as well as she said. I bought it and it was on my door step within 18 hours. I put him in it that night and we both slept in our own beds. I owe that mom a free babysitting night! Get you 2 of these, a back up for when they spit up on it and you have to wash it. It is thick so it takes a while to dry, but itâs not hot and heavy. Trust me, if your baby struggles to sleep, you need this.
Buy this! I donât often leave reviews, but I hope other parents will see this!Prior to buying this sleep suit, out little guy was starting to resist the swaddle (age 7-8 weeks old). He would flail around and wriggle his arms out of the swaddle. We became concerned that he was not staying warm enough with loose arms, or worse that he would stay tucked in and would eventually roll over.We bought this sleep suit, and it worked like magic from night one! Our baby loves it! He is instantly calm when we put it on for bed. Itâs not too constricting but does help prevent startle reflex. Perfect calming transition for a baby who is not yet ready for a sleep sack but has outgrown a swaddle. I would recommend buying some lightweight bamboo footies to wear underneath the Merlin suit, as it would be too warm to layer over thick pajamas.Since we bought this suit, we have experienced the best sleep yet with our baby, including two nights of 6-7 hour sleep stretches!Absolutely worth the money. I highly recommend it!!
I was a skeptic but this product is really amazing. So much better than straight jacket type swaddles. Our grandson started sleeping so much better. This is a MUST have 🙂
Had my son in the Ollie swaddle since birth and it was going great until he kept wiggling his arms out but I was terrified at transitioning him out because he’s been sleeping through the night (7 hours) since around 8 weeks. At 3 months (15 weeks) he started to be able to roll from his front to his back so I decided to move him to the Merlin and he transitioned seamlessly! Still maintains his 11-12 hour night sleeps and this mama heart is happy! He shows no signs of being able to roll from back to front so I think we’ll get some good use out of this. My boy usually runs cold so he is just fine in this with light cotton footed pajamas underneath and the thermostat set to 70°-71°
