Favourite monitor
Weâve tried several monitors but this brand is hands down our favourite. The extra camera paired perfectly with our existing set.Pros:- ability to pan around the room- not wifi enabled (closed circuit so no one else can access the video)- great range: able to go outside with no quality issues- can easily switch between several cameras with 1 handheld set- sound works great both for listening and talking to a little in their room- durable handheld unit (little has dropped several times but still works great)Been using for over 2 years with no issues.
Add on to VaVa monitor
Purchased the VaVa baby monitor before and wanted to buy an additional camera to add to our monitor. This works with the VaVa monitor with great picture and works incredible with sound and love that it works without wifi.
Pairs with VAVA
This camera pairs easily with the VAVA baby camera despite not being a VAVA brand. It looks identical to the original. Quality is very similar as well – haven’t noticed a difference between the two.
Faulty, used and damaged
I received a faulty and used camera. Sound did not work. The quality (when it works) is at most average. Would skip this one. I was also refused to be sent a replacement camera! Bad experience all and allâ¦!
So far, it does the job
Only been using for a week, with 3 cameras connected. So far it’s been good – there aren’t many monitors that you can connect more than 2 cameras so it’s hard to be too critical when you finally find one. Picture isn’t as clear as other cameras we’ve used but does the job. Sound works perfectly. I wish you could split screen all cameras, but only gives the option of split screening 2. So that’s a bit of a drawback. The cycling between all cameras makes it the only option since the split screen is only for two cameras, but I wish there was a setting for how long each camera showed while cycling – the only option is 15 seconds.
Most Reliable
I actually received an original Vava branded unit even though I ordered thr Hipp unit. So I think the Hipp branded unit is exactly the same. I had one of these for 2.5 years and my only complaint is that the plastic became brittle over time so the kickstand wold no longer lock in place and the antenna broke off after it fell over and dropped off a side table. It has a much larger battery than other monitors so you don’t get anxiety leaving it unplugged. It can even safely be left unplugged overnight (it will alarm to tell you when the battery is low if you are worried). The night vision is lower resolution than the 1080p Vtech unit I tried, but the Vava/Hipp unit never loses it connection or has a low battery (unlike the Vtech unit) which is way more important.This camera doesn’t have 1080p or wifi but it is rock solid reliable. I would highly recommend.
Pairs with VAVA
I have a VAVA monitor and 2 cameras from years ago. I needed another add-on camera only for our next baby. They donât sell VAVA on Amazon.ca anymore but saw this camera and everything about it was the same to my VAVA original monitor set. I gave it a shot and it pairs to my monitor and works as my original VAVA cameras do.
Decent Camera, Wild Price
Review:This is a nice little camera unit and it seems to work really well. The interface is easy to use, the connection has been very reliable, and material quality seems okay.Unfortunately, the price fluctuation on this product is all over the place. When I ordered it, it was under $170. Currently as I write this it’s listed for $240. That is quite the price hike, and one that I think is quite unfair based on my experience with the product. This is a good product for $170, but for $240 I would recommend so many other options other than this. I am surprised with the baby monitorâs picture quality and price. It arrived with nice packaging. It looks the similar as some other famous brand. Itâs easy to use. The connection is stable. Highly recommended!
Editing my rating since the manufacturer reached out offering a free replacement.We have 3 VAVA cameras at home. All of which we love and use daily. We recently purchased this Hipp monitor and weâre not happy with the quality. The first camera we received was defective and sound didnât work. We got a replacement one and the video quality is so poor and blurry. At this point Iâll be returning the product because itâs not worth it for that price. The Vava monitor (which looks identical to this one) is much better quality.
Iâve used this monitor system for all three of my kids. Got the original set as a gift and then purchased add on cameras. The picture is clear along with sound and the microphone works well. My only complaint is that our first monitor stopped holding a charge (2 years after receiving) so I contacted the seller to see if I could get a replacement for just the monitor. They informed me that they werenât in stock and I would have to purchase the entire set again which sucked because it was more expensive. They said they would contact me if the monitor came back in stock to purchase which they never did so I ended up having to buy a whole other set again. Not sure if that was their plan all along but my warranty was over and I didnât purchase the extended warranty because it was gifted. So if purchasing the entire set and not just the add on camera I suggest adding on the extending warranty just incase.
I absolutely love how easy it was to set this monitor up. The large screen shows a pretty clear picture and the the infrared night light works automatically like a charm. I do like having 2 way talk system and the visual alert if my little one is crying. This product was definitely a great value. I also have the option to add cameras to the system. The camera can be minutes on a flat service or hung if needed. I plan to purchase another for the play room!
Update – Seller reached out and offered a new camera or $60 Amazon gift card. We have already switched to a new system but I appreciate the semi-refund since our camera stopped working so quickly. Great customer service but still unsure that we would purchase again.Stopped working less than a year after buying. Camera will no longer connect, it seems like where the cord connects is damaged? We never move it and are gentle with it. For the price, I would expect it to last longer or at least have a 1 year warranty. Won’t be purchasing again or recommending. The seller doesn’t even give you a way to contact them with issues.
