kinsho is the self-knowledge and intuition gleaned from our many food experiences. We access these insights by paying attention.
Heather Sears started Kinsho after writing her 4x award-winning book, Mind to Mouth: A Busy Chick’s Guide to Mindful Meals.
She had found her increasingly mindless food habits and smart phone addiction had her choking during triple-tasking work lunches and making unhealthy (but fast!) food choices for herself and family.
She found that integrating mindful moments around food – shopping, prep and eating – helped her increase the healthfulness and pleasure of each bite. It also deepened her self-knowing as new food preferences emerged and old habits slipped away.
Additionally, she found that certain foodware designs were more helpful and enjoyable – such as bento boxes with specific design elements that support attentive eating, easier incorporation of a variety of food and healthier portions.
Kinsho creates well-designed reusable products and shares tips on bento meal prep and how mealtime mindfulness can support a deeper connection not just with the food we eat, but with ourselves, family and friends.

This bento is amazing. Perfect portion sizing for my son to have a variety of food unpacked at school. This container is also truly leak proof!! 100% honesty! I’m am so impressed with this product! Great lunch box for work!
After testing out this bento box for about a week, I have to say I am really impressed! It makes it easier to pack things without taking up tons of room in my work bag. Each of the compartments is totally leak proof, and it even comes with some cutlery. The only thing I wish is if Kinsho could make a larger version because as a nurse working 12 hours, I have to bring a lot of food to work. It would just be nice to have that option anyways. But this size is great for kids and taking to the beach or hikes, etc. Overall, I am super impressed! I would definitely recommend these.
Wonderful box, but wears over time
I love these lunch boxes for my elementary school age kids. They have the right number of compartments and I’ve been using them for 4 months without any leaks of liquids, which I include in their lunches often. The boxes are compact and fit well in a backpack. They are quick and easy to clean. My only complaint is that the latches are starting to show signs of wear and the corners don’t fit as tightly a they did at first because the lids have warped ever-so-slightly. But I reckon they will last a year at least. Regardless I like them enough that I will happy buy the same product next time.
It keeps food separated for picky eaters.
I brought one last year for my 10 year old. She loves it. It’s still good as new. So easy to clean out with a rag. I I know she getting the right portion. Worth the money. I purchased a second one for me 5 year old too.
Worked for a while
Handy but got mouldy under the seals after a while and had to toss it out.
Leak proof feature is great
I spent an hour reading reviews on 100+ bento boxes. These came highly recommended. I can see why. My kids are 12 and 14 so I needed them to hold a decent amount of food and not be too âkiddyâ. These are great. Seal so well. I know I can put dressings or dips in and they will perform well.
Slowly letting me down as time goes on…
I was so excited to get myself a fancy bento box! When it first arrived, I tried to put everything I could in it. But as time wore on, I admittedly found myself reaching for it less and less because:- Given the design, I had to commit to all “heatable” or all cold foods- I noticed myself missing a place to put things like dips (the compartments are too big for them)- Despite very carefully following the instructions, the corners of the container slowly warped and now I don’t trust it to be leakproof- The lid is surprisingly hard to align for proper closure (there is no way a child could do it)I tried to reach out to the manufacturer as the warranty said they had a satisfaction guarantee, and it has now been a month and I’ve heard nothing from them. I doubt I will, but I remain hopeful.

We are so pleased with our Bento box. As a family of 5 we have tried so many different types of lunch box but this is definitely our favourite.We choose the blue one, so my husband and our boys would use it. It looks great and is really good quality. Our 5 year old can use it with ease and all the little sections are perfect for packing lunch and snacks. I love that the super seal on the lid means all the items stay exactly where you put them and even liquids don’t leak into the next compartment.The sections are actually larger than I thought they would be and the cutlery is a great addition and sturdy. The children all quarrel over who would gets to use it, so we will definitely be getting more – maybe one of the sparkly lilac ones… so pretty!!It also comes with a free book which you can download with loads of great ideas for using your Bento box.Great box – only possible down side i can think of it the lid isn’t dishwasher safe but for the advantage of the brilliant seal I’m happy to hand wash.
My 5 year old can’t open this box. The flaps on the side can be opened by her, but the suction is too strong for her. This isn’t a bad thing – it’s supposed to be suctioned. It’s just for children who can handle the suction. There is no grip on the box to help the child open the box, so you have to have larger hands to hold the side of the box to stop the box slipping out of your hands. Great for adults though! Lovely colour also.The addition of the utensils is fantastic.
