Love this baby gate. We have wide opening at the top of our stairs so this one works perfect. Was super easy to install and is easy to use!
Easy to install and sturdy
The template are a God bless.Setup give you a bit of play room if the floor aren’t straight or you are a bit off.Strong enough to sustain my 5 years old full weight without braking.Just need 2 hands for opening and closing.Need to activate the nob and start opening/closing.When the action is started you can release the nob and have 1 free hand.
Great gate, but get your own Anchors
We like that it basically disappears when not in use, and we were able to use it in a unique space a conventional baby gate wouldn’t fit. However, the anchors it came with are super cheap and ripped out of our wall pretty quickly. Ideally have it screwed into a stud, but if your only option is installing in hollow drywall get your own snap toggle anchors and its way better for the long term.- Dad

We actually use these to keep the dogs out of the kitchen, as we have a chronic issue with SOMEONE grabbing food off the counters even when we thought we had it out of reach… We used a regular baby gate before and when we had pork roasts he would just push past it and grab it off the counter as well as when we had butter out, nothing worse than seeing teeth marks and chunks of butter missing with slobber all over the counter… I turned around for 30 seconds! So purchased these gates and they are WONDERFUL. I modified slightly so we didn’t have to turn the little know for opening and closing so we can operate with 1 hand. (I stuck a thumb tac next to the knob, real technical stuff.. hehe) Highly recommended for anyone trying to keep dogs out of trouble!!!But if you have a high jumper with strong determination, may not work. Also too high off the floor for say small small breed dogs who can just belly crawl underneath. We have a blue heeler/Australian Shephard mix as well as Papillon, the Papillon does not jump over nor climbs under, but if he really wanted to, I have no doubt he could belly crawl underneath. Our heeler just stares at it in disapproval but minds his manners now. The temptation to crawl underneath would probably be a really simple fix by attaching some sort of cloth across the bottom that would make it appear there’s no opening ?? Just a thought!*funny side note, 1 of 3 cats leap over it, the other 2 who are more than able to jump it chose to slide underneath instead*Have had these in for over a year, still function great!!! If anything were to happen, we will purchase again!
Hard to operate
I wanted to love this gate but it has a few downfalls. This cannot be operated 1 handed. You need to twist and push down the locking mechanism to move the gate so if you are holding your child and trying to set up the gate you wont be able to…Also, the height is not adjustable, so you need to install this you will have to drill into your baseboards or have a very silly gap. I have another brand where the bottom support bracket slides up and down to make sure its more flush with your floor and allow you to drill into your board as opposed to your basboards.The only pro for this honestly is the price. we use it for our second floor where the staircase is so we only really it use it once or twice a day
Good quality product. Installation instructions are pretty poor.
The thing that sets this product apart is the poor quality of the installation instructions. While easy to see, all the small parts look the same. More time should have been taken to express the different parts, what they are for (if theyâre really necessary), and which direction they need to be installed in. While it took several tries to get things installed and lined up the product works just the way itâs supposed to.

Not only does this product not work as any sort of barrier, its strong pull back makes it dangerous when the tension is released suddenly.If this were at the top of a set of stairs, not only could someone fall through it easily, but a child can easily remove it from its mount and access the stairs.The main roller part is designed so that it can be removed from the wall easily. But it does this without any sort of mechanism. The main roller attaches to the wall by sliding down onto a set of hooks, one placed at the top and the other at the bottom.To remove the gate from its setting, all you have to do is lift it gently. It is not heavy and our dogs can take the gate from its setting easily even from the other side of the gate.Not only that but it fastens to the wall with a set of hooks aswell. The only thing keeping it on the hooks is the tension created by the rollup mechanism. It doesn’t take much to release it from the hooks, I even installed my gate with one hook facing outwards and the other inwards.Our puppy figured out in 2 minutes that he can easily unhook the bottom hook and then slip under the gate. Originally I bought this product to keep him out of certain places in the house, I liked that the gate itself unrolls quite long and removes from the wall so it can fit in any different areas without having to purchase multiple gates.If this gate had a lock mechanism where you have to press a button or switch to remove it from its setting, and had a switch at each hook for the end of the gate so you could choose for it to be unrolled easily or locked, then this product might have worked for me.Instead the manufacturers cut corners and decided to use only a tension mechanism with no child safety features.This product is a law suit waiting to happen.
