I’ve had a Bluetooth intercom system installed in my motorcycle helmet for several years now, which I leave continuously connected to the power cord that came with it when I’m not riding. Recently, when I was about to take a ride, I turned the helmet on and heard the familiar startup tone. After connecting to my iPhone, I heard all of about 30 seconds of music before it went off completely.At first, I assumed that the rechargeable battery was kaput. On a lark, I connected the helmet to a micro USB cable connected to my computer and was surprised to see the charging light illuminate, which was not the case with the original power adapter. Of course, I can’t leave my helmet connected to my laptop for long periods of time.That being the case, rather than blow $150 on a new helmet intercom system, I first ordered this charger to give a try. Turns out, that was the problem. The new charger has my intercom system functioning like its old self again and I saved a significant amount of money and hassle. At less than $10, it’s certainly worth a try to investigate whether the problem is with the device or the charger.Just make sure that you match up all the adapter information to ensure that the specs are the same. In my case, the charger is perfect.

It’s possible that this was just a generic brick that was manufactured and was intended to have a barrel connector on it, but no one can say fur sure. It is because of this that all the safety and regulatory symbols on it should be questioned. I do not have the proper equipment to test if it is able to achieve all the output claims, but I am using it to power a Google Nest and so far it is working fine. I would not connect this to anything expensive or anything that you care about. It does seem to be a good cheap power adapter to power your cheap electronics, though. Just caution yourself for what you’re using it with, as overloading it could cause variable failure. 👍
