Reviews

  1. Bit expensive, but it’s the best baby puree out there.
I like to research things, sometimes too much. I was looking for a baby puree / toddler on-the-go snack that was convenient and highly nutritious (heavy with veggies and vitamins, light on simple sugars). This is the one.
I looked everywhere. Most baby purees are packed with lots of sugar – I get why, the kids will love the sweet taste (even as it damages their taste preferences, sometimes for life – and harms their health). If they love it, parents will buy it and the business makes money. You can get unsweetened options, but they tend to be light on nutrition – maybe plain unsweetened apple sauce or fruit sauce and nothing else, which is nutritionally empty, or maybe they add in some starchy root veggies like sweet potato or so on. Those don’t have enough of the nutrient-packed leafy veggies – makers are wary of adding them in volume as it can make the purees taste green, slightly bitter and less attractive to babies (and hence many parents).
Well, this one has kale puree as the first ingredient, and if you look at the nutrition facts it is jam-packed with vitamins. If you care about organic, this is organic. If you care about testing and clean labeling, this is the king of testing. And I can speak from experience that at least many young children will eat this so you’re in pretty good shape there, and it isn’t super-sweet and has a mild hint of veggies so you’re also properly developing their core taste preferences.
I do wish that the Omega-3 oil content was a bit higher, they add at least 10mg of DHA equivalent but if that was a bit higher I’d be a fan. You can top that up with a small bottle of oil you buy separately and add to the baby’s diet if you want.
I have also tried the white bean one and the broth one, both were also good options. This one is the best one, but variety is good too. Do note again that this is unusually expensive but even one of these a day can give your kid a lot of nutrition and it’s convenient and portable so you can get on with your day. For the rest I at least made my own purees (it’s easy and dirt cheap, you make each recipe once in bulk then freeze in ice cube trays and pop into a ziploc to portion out later on its own or added to cereal).
