Kids love it, and learn with it
Iâd give this 7 stars if I could! Both of my daughters love this little puzzle, but especially my 8 yr old. She keeps inventing new ways to challenge herself with it and then works away on it, which is *totally* unlike her. Challenging herself? Persisting?! Wow, Iâm like, who is this child and whereâs my daughter?! Tetris has been around forever for good reason âpeople get hooked. Whatever the reason, it works. Iâm super thrilled and love seeing my kids quietly sit and explore, and discover. While this puzzle isnât truly Tetris (the white and orange shapes arenât in the traditional game, and the whites make it easier than real Tetris), it holds the same appeal and hits on all the same areas of cognitive development, and maybe more than a video game version simply because it is tactile. One thing that seems apparent is that having a virtually unlimited number of solutions and inviting creative problem solving makes it more appealing to my kids than some other classic geometry puzzles. My 4 yr old is more interested in arranging the blocks for aesthetics than completing the puzzle but she still ends up discovering how the shapes do or do not fit together. Sheâll fill in most of the board to suit her artistic whimsy and then either rebuild it a new way or her big sister pops over to help her finish it off, which my 8 yr old loves because working around her sisterâs artistic design is always a new challenge. Sometimes all 3 of us work together on it as a team, which is really fun too.The first time kids try the game it could seem frustrating. To avoid them getting a poor first impression, you might choose to intervene before their frustration runs too high. You could make 1 or more of these suggested strategies to help them out: start on the edges and work your way in to the middle (itâs way harder to complete the puzzle if you worked your way into a corner), leave most of the white blocks until the end because theyâre the most versatile, and use a variety of shapes as you go so you still have an assortment to choose from at the end.Ideas for challenges to try with this game (once kids get the hang of it) include: group all the blocks by colour, put ALL the white and black blocks around the edges (meaning youâve got none left for anything else!), see how symmetrical you can make the design (itâs mathematically impossible for it to be 100% symmetrical but you can get close), donât let any 2 blocks of the same colour touch each other, line the edges (or fill one end, etc.) with blocks in rainbow order, or make a picture with some of the blocks and then use the rest to fill in around it. Most of these rules came about initially because my 4 yr old insisted on them, and then my 8 yr old and I had fun trying them out!People say âmath makes you smart.â Yes, yes it really does. And also, an assortment of quality geometry games make people good at math. Want smart kids? Buy this game. Itâs awesome.

Well made…fun for kids who like to play with shapes.
The base is well made. The shapes are thinner wood but not so thin they can be bent or broken. They are definately not cardboard thin. The colours are vivid. I suggest you take a picture of the complete board before you start to use it…in case you want to fit all the pieces back onto the frame board. The picture they include on the packaging must be from an older, larger version. It cannot be reproduced with this frame board and pieces.

My children absolutely love this! They are 4 & 6. My 4 year old wakes up and goes straight to this toy almost every morning. He loves patterns, math and a good challenge! They love the fact that you can finish this puzzle in many different ways. The product itself is pretty great, the pieces are wooden but on the thinner side.

Good but small
I did not pay attention to the size, it looked like it would be bigger in the photo, and it is TINY. Yes okay it is a good puzzle for kids but the price tag… this product is just definitely not worth $25, although it is cute and good quality wood. It should be a bit larger

Sometimes I need to decompress a little and get my mind off of other things. This puzzle is an enjoyable way to do it! The quality of this puzzle is top notch. I like the smoothness of the pieces and the multiple ways they can fit together. I am normally not a brain teaser kind of puzzle person if it is too challenging. However, this one makes me feel smarter since there appear to be so many ways to solve it. If you start the puzzle by making squares or rectangles, when you are finishing up and running out of pieces, it is not that hard to solve. Score! Plus, I think it helps my brain and as I get older, that can’t hurt anything. I plan to buy more as gifts. An added bonus is that it doesn’t take up that much room; other items can stack on top of it if necessary.
