I purchased several of these to use for my elderly father-in-law, and have used them for well over a year now, and they have held up very well through many, many washings.
I’ve had these pads for a month. My dog takes a diruetic twice daily and has digestive issues so I’ve dealt with my share of messy clean-ups. I place the pad atop large adult incontinence pads to catch potential leaks and in a month’s time, nothing has permeated. Throwing the pads in the wash ensures that all the stains are gone with no visible signs of use, but I did notice that even after I washed them, they still smelled like urine so I changed my cleaning regime to include more detergent, baking soda/Awesome laundry booster, and white ammonia/white vinegar and that seems to have done the trick. In regards to drying, the tag suggests drying on low heat, but I found that that caused the pad to shrink, so I would recommend air drying or Fluff/no heat. All and all, excellent product. A great way to catch the leaks and other “stuff” without having to keep spending money on potty pads. Each pad is washed every other day, so I’m hopeful that they will last a year or so.
I got this recently for my new puppy to put in his pay pen area. These are really good. I wanted to make sure he has plenty of water on day 1 that he is home, so he doesn’t get constipated or dehydrated. He was drinking a lot of water and peed on these. They absorbed all the pee and nothing passed through! He also peed in same area 2-3 times. I put them in washing machine, warm water wash and they came out clean. I also can do air dry in the dryer. I am ordering more now. Keeping it in patio because it’s raining next week!
The pads are thick and soft. They also wash and dry well. They are strong enough to move a patient around on.
I bought this set in 2020 and used it to protect my bed for the last two years of my dog’s life. I had to wash the pads frequently, and the main part (exclusive of flaps) held up beautifully. The “poor quality” reviews are totally appropriate for the tuck-in flaps, however. The fabric is so thin that it’s easy to poke a hole through it just trying to tuck in the flap. After doing that a few times, I cut off the flimsy fabric flaps, bought a flat sheet from Walmart and used it to construct good quality tuck-in flaps (cut the sheet in half and sewed it onto the sides of the waterproof pads – see close up image). One reviewer mentioned that the two pads weren’t attached to each other, which is clear from the “2 pack” descriptor, but I wanted a single pad to cover the king-sized mattress, as well. So I sewed my two pads together. It has washed and worn well for over two years now in its reconstructed form (see full image of the connected pads).All that said, most people don’t have sewing equipment for these modifications. I would have paid $60 to have what I created myself with my sewing skills and a cheap flat sheet.
