Nice looking and solid
I bought this as a temporary gate on our covered porch to keep our dog in. It’s been in use every day for months and still opens smoothly and does the job well. I love the top sliding bar because it keeps the gate stiff and secure and makes opening and expanding or contracting easier. The dark wood stain colour is really nice. The double hooks on either side are strong and make it easy to hang.

Gets the Job Done
This gate does the job. It keeps our dog from accessing places he shouldn’t be, and was really easy to install. The only thing I wish was different would be the height. I might have to look and see if they make taller ones. Our dog has learned that he can get up on the top of the gate by getting a good jump in first. This is causing the gate to flex a little; however, this gate is still holding up better than the last one. It’s also pretty durable, but our dog has started chewing on the wood leaving bite marks everywhere. We’ve since trained him out of biting it, but he still does it when we aren’t around.

Was pretty much what I expected
I have had a gate like this previously and has worked wonderfully for a lot of years. It is not as sturdy as I would like so need to make sure that the little ones do not put too much pressure on it but is resilient enough to work the way I want. Just need to keep an eye on the little ones to make sure that they don’t break it.

I LOVE this gate and have actually bought 2 for different uses as I needed this both for keeping pets in a secure area when visitors were going in and out, and for reminding an elderly relative to keep a safe distance from the stairs (he’s a fall risk).Before finding this gate, I had bought various others that were much more expensive and there was always something that didn’t quite fit my needs. I needed gates that could fit in wide spaces, were easy to open and close, looked nice, were super easy to install, didn’t have a bar on the floor which could trip people, and were able to be customized for my needs (I have a cat and a dog, so I wanted to customize one gate to keep both pets secure when needed). These gates were/are perfect!Use 1: I used the first gate at the top of the stairs in my house to help remind an elderly relative not to get too close to the edge of the stairs. This gate is not super sturdy, so it probably wouldn’t hold the weight of a person leaning against it, but this is not something I needed. I just need it to serve as a reminder, so for me it works well. For use with kids, I think it would be sturdy enough to keep a toddler out of an area, but not a child any older than 2-3 years old if they were determined to get through. This gate really is best for situations where you need a barrier, but are not dealing with a pet or a child who would be super rough about trying to get out.Use 2: I used the second gate to to make a barrier in a wide passageway (50 inches) to keep my dog and my cat in the living-room when needed. My dog is 45lbs and polite/good mannered, so he doesn’t even try to get through the gate. My cat however, can easily jump and this gate (or any other gate) wouldn’t be able to keep her in without a few adjustments. To keep my cat in, I got a thick curtain and hung it across the top of the passageway right above the gate. I then used velcro to attach the curtain to the top of the gate (the hand rail and some of the wood lattice) so that there were no gaps or areas that my cat could jump through. I basically used the gate and the curtain to make a nice looking and easy to slide open wall/ceiling high barrier that my cat can’t get through either (but both my pets can still see through the gate). This has really worked out great as it’s easy to use, can be removed easily, and does the job of securing my pets whenever the need arises.Overall, this gate is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone with similar needs to my own. 🙂

Go for it without a second thought.. its look is elegant. Stretches wide and easy to install. Superb.

Wow, this gate is fabulous! At least for what I needed it for. I needed something I could put on the front porch of my century home that would function and not look like an eyesore. It just fit the wide opening I needed to gate off which is 60″ at the top of the steps. The reason I needed to do this is because the neighbor’s dog would perpetually run up onto my porch and eat my outdoor cat’s food, as well as terrorize him, only at certain times of the day. So now I can keep him out when needed (and he’s a big dog), but when I want it open for deliveries and foot traffic it easily lifts and folds smaller or swings bag out of the way to be tucked flush against the sidewall of the porch out of view. And when it’s open it’s actually beautiful in the dark brown wood almost matching the existing railing around my porch. Hopefully it holds up in the weather, but seems reasonably sturdy and was pretty easy to install so long as you take careful measurements. And where it says “exactly 6″ off the ground” I would say do 6-1/4″ or 6-1/2″ and go from there as it is a tight squeeze at the ground. Overall, I adore this gate & am thinking about getting more for my back deck.
