Harlow’s Earth Crib Mattress Covers create a safer sleeping environment that protects your little one from potential chemical off-gassing and allergens found in many crib mattresses. Wrapping your baby’s crib mattress is a simple intervention to give you peace of mind. What makes a mattress toxic? PVC is a known human carcinogen linked to cancer, birth defects, learning and developmental delays, endometriosis and immune abnormalities. Flame Retardants can cause cancer, reduced IQ, developmental delays and reproductive difficulties. Polyurethane Foam affects the nervous and immune system, causes neurological disorders, autoimmune weakness, asthma, allergies, infertility, miscarriage and child behavior disorders. Our product was developed in response to SIDS research in New Zealand stating that poisonous gases are being generated in the mattress where the baby sleeps. The toxic gas theory, presented by Dr. James Sprott, states that the chemicals: phosphorus, arsenic and antimony are very frequently present in bedding. When these chemicals mix with naturally occurring molds found in the baby’s mattress, the gases shut down the central nervous system, resulting in the cessation of breathing and heart functions- SIDS. Our specially-formulated crib mattress covers are impermeable to these toxic gases as well as: BPA, Latex, Phthalate and Lead free. They are made of 100% virgin polyethylene and are 6mil in thickness. Our mattress covers are also waterproof and recyclable.

Not sure of its effectiveness but it sounds like a garbage bag underneath the sheets
Not sure of its effectiveness but it sounds like a garbage bag underneath the sheets. I’ve tried putting a blanket and fitted sheet over and it still sounds the same. No sure how my baby will learn to sleep on it when he arrives.
Purchased this for my new grand daughter after my nieces infant passed away from SIDS. I did alot of research and believe that these mattresses are emitting toxic gases, and whether or not one believes it can cause SIDS, infants should not be exposed to these toxic gases. I do not understand why our government can not at least suggest to people that mattress wrapping can prevent off gassing. It’s a shame that our government and the safety of our children is in the back pocket of manufacturers. We follow all the SIDS prevention guidelines BUT mattress wrapping is on the list. This cover is the same (6)mil polyethylene as the pricey New Zealand BabeSafe. I have a standard crib mattress and it fit perfectly with enough to fold over as instructed. Easy to use. The sound from the cover is slight. Follow the instructions. (Do not add covers, sheets, pads etc.that contain chemicals). The instructions tell you what cotton items to use. Thank you Harlow Earth for such a important product in my grand daughter’s life.
This has been working perfectly. I bought this to go on my newborns mattress in his pack and play. I was concerned about toxins from the foam padding, these are supposed to help with that and it seems to do just that, no odors ftom the foam and it was super easy to adjust to mame this fit the mattress, I would definitely buy again!!
