Homemade Meals for Cats
Are you looking for natural, safe, and healthy recipes to feed your cat? Does your cat suffer from digestion and coat issues? Consider making your cat’s food yourself at home.
What your cat eats can change its life!
It is crazy the kind of products that companies are legally able to put into their food and get away with it simply because no one looks too hard. Most folks don’t think about what is in their pet’s food; they simply buy a brand they recognize or a package they like at a price they’re fine with and move on.
Food is so much more than that, though. And if you want to give your pets a better life, with better health and a lot of happiness, you need my book.
Meet Babs and DD, my beautiful fur babies.
Babs and DD have been with me for many years now. We’ve been through heartbreak, breakups, lots of romance, and eventually, marriage. They adjusted to sharing me with my husband, and I think DD likes him even more now.
When they were five or six years old, Babs started to have stomach problems. She wouldn’t eat, and when she did, she would get sick about half the time. Our vet at the time tried medicated food, a bland diet, supplements, keeping her and DD separated, and so many other things. Finally, as a last-ditch effort, when I was so scared, I was crying in the office, thinking I would lose her; the vet told me, “I guess you could try making her food if you really want. It couldn’t hurt.”
I had no idea what that would mean or the journey it would lead me on.
I dove deep into the world of pet food and, more importantly, pet nutrition. I discovered it wasn’t just about filling their stomachs but giving them a proper balance of nutrients and vitamins so they could live their best life.
It took some trial and error, but after this many years, I can say I’ve become somewhat of an expert in the field. Not only did Babs get better, but on their homemade food diet, they both have shinier coats, better temperaments, and still act like they’re young and carefree.

A good start but needs improvement
This book is not perfect in my opinion, but it is a good start. For example, the author suggests the following ratios of the micronutrients: 50% protein, 40% fat, and 10% carbohydrates. But if you look at a staple natural diet of a wild cat, like small birds and mice, they don’t nearly have that much fat and that much carbs. You can find the nutritional profile of a field mouse online.
Cat lovers everywhere will enjoy this super helpful guide to making your own nutritious cat food at home. We all want the best for our fur babies, and that means avoiding the harmful ingredients that are often found in generic cat food brands. Many of these toxic ingredients can cause health issues for your pet over time, and author Amanda Hensley shares her own story of dealing with her beloved cat’s deteriorating health. After countless trips to the vet and hundreds of dollars later, it seemed like there was no solution in sight for the author’s cat, who was having trouble keeping down her food.In a desperate attempt to save her feline friend, Amanda began making her own homemade cat food, and noticed an improvement in her cat’s health almost instantly. In this book, she covers everything (and I mean everything) you need to know to begin your own journey into the satisfying world of homemade cat food. She lays out exactly the type of kitchen equipment needed, as well as how to make sure you’re including all the necessary nutrients in your recipes.Speaking of recipes, you won’t need to go digging around the internet for them, because this book comes with an abundance of easy recipes suitable for beginners. Recipes for chicken, beef, rabbit and turkey are included, and there’s even a section devoted to homemade cat treats. Just because your cat eats a homemade diet doesn’t mean you can’t spoil them once in a while! If you’ve been curious about what it takes to make your own cat food at home, you need this guide. Besides covering all the basics, Amanda shares her own insights on why it’s so important to provide our feline friends with the happy, healthy life they deserve.
This book is a great resource to be introduced to home-cooking for your cat. It is well written and contains a lot of knowledge concerning the right food preparation options, food choices and supplements!
