Extra Moisturizing Drops with No Stinging
Before using this drops I squeezed a drop on my finger first. It’s surprisingly moisturizing almost like a skin serum and not completely like other eye drops that just feel watery.I have ordered dry eye drops in vials before and they didn’t have this extra lubricating feel to them at all.The moisturizing does seem to last most of the day.I like that there isn’t a ton of liquid in each vial so I don’t feel like there is as much waste as with other vials. There were a few times when I felt these were more difficult to squeeze that other vials though. I’m not sure what it is about the design, but sometimes I will see there’s at least a couple of big drops left but the vials are a little flat instead of round and the extra liquid doesn’t always come out. There was no complaining at all about stinging with these drops. And maybe it’s because of the hyaluronic acid (my favourite skin care ingredient for moisturizing) but the drops tended to do a better job of staying in the eyes instead of running over the lids and down the face. The drop themselves are 5 Stars but the vial itself could be better. But even if you don’t get it all out, it’s enough for two eyes.I love that these are individually packaged as I can trust that each vial is fresh and not contaminated with dirt or bacteria from unclean hands. The value is there if you want to keep some near the bed or carry with you. I’d likely want to add a regular bottle of this to keep in the medicine cabinet too and use these as backups so it’s more cost effective overall.
Single use vials are quite practical
I am not sure if there is any difference in the formula that makes this a kid’s product, but the single use vials make it very practical especially for kids.I have been using hydraSense from time to time and it definitely helps with dryness without causing any irritation. But although I always get the smallest size, since I only use it from time to time, it takes quite a while to finish a single bottle, no matter how small it is. Towards the end of a bottle, I start to suspect its freshness, and sometime even the expiration date would have passed before I finish it all. In that sense, single vial use is practical as you open a vial and finish it, and the rest remains untouched in separate vials. However, that also means less control over the amount you use. With a small bottle, I usually use either a single or maybe only a few drops per eye. A single vial of this definitely has much more than that for two eyes. I find this normal, as I would prefer to have more instead of less than I need in a single use vial, but it might also lead to using more than necessary of this product.Speaking about the amount used, I should also mention that single vial use is naturally more costly than using from a container. The price of $17 CAD (minus a $1 coupon) seems okay for using 20 times, but getting a small bottle is probably more cost effective. The best thing about single use vials is probably that you do not have to worry where and how you use it and whether you can keep the rest hygienically clean. That’s why this is great for kids. They can use a single vial that is hygienically clean for sure and you don’t have to worry about contamination of the rest. Another advantage is that it is easier to carry with you too.Overall, I like this product. Not only is it suitable for kids 3+ age, but also the single vial use has its advantages especially for young kids. The cost per use is naturally higher with this format, but it might be worth it if you plan to provide your kids with these for using away from home.
Great for taking along
These kids drops have the same formulation as the regular HydraSense for dry eyes with its active ingredient being a 0.15% sodium hyaluronate solution. This solution is packaged in 20 0.5mL single use vials, this is where I was tempted to deduct a star as I found that there was enough product for more than a single use. I ordered this product for my personal use because of the convenience of the vials for taking outside of the home as you can take only what is needed. I did find that each vial holds enough product for 2 applications for the experienced however, if using on kids you might need the extra just to ensure enough is applied. As I suffer from both dry eyes and environmental allergies (seasonal, animals, etc.) I find I need to travel with my drops if away from home for any length of time. The convenience of having these single use vials make it much easier to transport and they fit easily into a pocket or purse. Their efficacy is very good and lasts for most of the day, as well I can share a single vial with my wife when we are out together. The 20 vials have the same amount of solution as a regular dropper bottle of HydraSense and my prescription drops, but you have less control over wastage.Overall, these drops do as they are intended to do, and the vials are most likely easier to use for applying to kids.
Good and non-irritating
hydraSense is a trusted brand for eye drops. I personally find them very soothing for dry/itchy eyes. The fact that it’s preservative-free is also a nice bonus, as it means they sting much less than those full of preservatives. I’ve used a lot of drops and these are some of the best and least irritating. The single-use vials are practical, although keep in mind that there’s definitely enough liquid in each vial to last more than one use, but the top doesn’t go back on. So you’ll likely have to keep the opened container around until you need another drop sometime in the same 24 hour period.
