KardiaMobile is helpful in monitoring AFib but not in detecting heart attacks
I’ve been using the KardiaMobile 6L since early 2021, but recently it stopped working. So, I’ve been considering whether or not to buy another one. Here’s what I’ve learned about the device, including its strengths and limitations.Key Features:• Detection: The KardiaMobile 6L can automatically detect atrial fibrillation (AFib), tachycardia (fast heart rate), and bradycardia (slow heart rate). But we are all capable of detecting tachycardia and bradycardia without any technology.• Heart Attack Detection: Unfortunately, the device does not alert you to heart attacks.• Phone Compatibility: It’s important to check if your phone and operating system are compatible with the app.• ECG Quality: The ECG recordings are not clean. You will see artefacts, and Kardia doesn’t provide much guidance on what is an artefact versus a legitimate signal. You will find yourself searching online forums for insights from other users.• Data Sharing: You can save your ECG readings and send them to your healthcare provider. This could be especially helpful if you’re monitoring ongoing heart conditions.• KardiaCare Subscription: The KardiaCare service, which is an additional paid subscription, provides advanced features such as the detection of six common arrhythmias.You should consider buying this product• If You Have AFib: If you’re primarily concerned with monitoring atrial fibrillation, the KardiaMobile 6L could be a good option. It’s easy to use and provides useful data for tracking this condition.• If you have another common arrhythmias: If you one of the 6 common arrhythmia that the product can detect and are okay with paying the subscription fee, this product could also be beneficial.Not for Heart Attacks: If your main concern is heart attack detection, this product is only useful IF you know how to read an ECG.
