Decent product. Poor instructions.
We had to figure out the use and operation of this light mostly through careful trial and error, because the Instructions included with the product are very poorly written. The only real exception is the one side of the box that illustrates how to load the film into the lamp; that is pretty clear. I wasn’t sure until I actually had the product in front of me whether it would require standard flashlight batteries, or work as a re-chargeable lamp. That could be a “me” problem, because I lack any kind of “techie” expertise, but it is also the first time I have been faced with that particular uncertainty when considering a product. In any case, it turns out that the light can be operated on three AA batteries, or by keeping it connected to a power source using the included USB cord. The cord is a decent length, making it more feasible here to keep the light plugged in. In a dark room, the projected images are clearly identifiable as they show up on ceiling and walls, but there is no three-dimensional effect as some of the pictures on the product listing page seem to suggest. The images are the kind that appeal to children: cartoon dinosaurs, stars and moon, and fireworks, to name a few of the many. I’m not sure how the silhouette of a man and woman standing close together under a starry sky got included in the mix, but at least to me it seems tasteful and harmless. The rotation feature does work, but it is quite slow, and I guess that is in keeping with the idea of lulling a child to sleep. And the light itself works well as a standard nightlight. To make it work: Step One, give it power, from either batteries or connected cord; Step Two, remove the top part of the lamp by twisting until it unlocks. Step Three, load the film, as illustrated on the box; Step Four, turn on the light by pressing the “A” button briefly; Step Four, if desired, adjust the brightness by pressing the “B” button repeatedly to go from Low to Medium to Bright. Honestly, I could discern very little difference, at least in the product that I received; Step Five, start the images moving around the room by pressing the “C” button. Note: To use the lamp as an image projector, leave the top off. To use it as a nightlight, replace the top. I did not notice any guidance for handling the film pieces that come with the lamp, and maybe this kind of care is no longer needed, but as a personal opinion, I suggest that you avoid touching the flat surfaces of the films, and instead handle them only by their edges, in order to avoid grease marks, smudges, and scratches. I am definitely frustrated and annoyed by the poor quality of the instructions, but I am satisfied with the product itself.

Works very nicely WITHOUT the plastic cover
This nightlight projector is a really nice item for a kids bedroom. Once we figured it all out (the instructions are almost non existent) it is easy to switch around the pictures depending on the mood and kid. Overall the pictures are fairly clear and easy to see, and the motion adds a soothing rhythm. It projects pretty far, covering most of the walls and ceilings. The only part I don’t really understand is the plastic piece that is supposed to go over the the projector – it actually makes the pictures less clear and really doesn’t add anything to the experience? The kids love the different pictures and enjoy using it, but as the purchaser I feel like it could have been better quality.

Not a good nightlight
This little machine can be used as a nightlight or as a projector. However as others have pointed out the nightlight, where the plastic dome is over top of the projector is really not that great. The dome is thin and flimsy plastic and prone to scratching, it makes the images less clear as well which ruins the experience. The projector is actually ok, pretty good clarity and so on. The instructions are basically useless and you will need to figure it out a lot on your own. I think it is ok but there are probably better ones out there in the same price range or cheaper.
