I got this Leapstart as a way to get my 4 year old daughterâs screen time down and to also help her explore things sheâs currently learning at school (numbers, letters, words, reading, spelling etc.) in a fun and interactive way.Here are my honest pros and cons for this product:Pros:-My daughter looks forward to playing this everyday when she comes home from school, so itâs definitely got our thumbs up for entertainment and educational value.-The product design is sophisticated and the books add variety and fun for her to explore.-The handle feature is great for little hands to transport it places.-Itâs significantly helped reduce her screen time and Iâm already looking for more books to purchase for her.Cons:-If you have a Mac, this product is not going to work for you. Period. It is not compatible and something the company needs to fix ASAP.-There is a set up process involved – plugging it into your PC, downloading the software, placing the books on the device where they read and upload instantly for continuous use.-The pen is tricky as the cord is short and sometimes my daughter gets stuck, but this isnât a deal breaker. The tip of the pen is fiddly and feels loose, but works. The pen also will damage the case and books from children pressing hard on the pen which canât be avoided (be prepared for lines and spots left behind after use).-Itâs battery operated (not rechargeable)-I looked at buying additional books and theyâre expensive (just a heads up that this is a continuous investment!)-Your child may need help inserting the books as the spine hook can be tricky.Overall, weâre happy with our purchase and the value it brings our daughter, but thereâs a lot of opportunity for improvement.

My daughter was given this for her 4th birthday. She uses it to wind down in bed before lights out. Perfect non screen interactive learning device. I can see her focusing on listening to the instructions and following them.

Bought This leapfrog learning toy for my niece and she loves it! the different level makes it a toy that last long and itâs great for learning letters, numbers, colors, shapes, reading books and more!
Leepstart not compatible with MAC
Could not configure the Leepstart with my MacBook Pro. Had to find someone with a PC. Now that it is all loaded, it is okay, my son sometimes gets frustrated with the pen, doesnât always say the word with the first tap.

It works well and does not lags! Sturdy too.Preloaded with the books that comes with it. The app installation is easy, fuss free.Bought it for my kid who is 3 year old as a christmas present. I think he will like it a lot!
I was a little worried about purchasing this because some of the bad reviews said it was not compatible on a Mac. As I thought, those people must not have been reading the directions well because I downloaded the Leapstart and books on my MacBook with no issues! Secondly, some people said it stopped working or didn’t “charge.” The directions specifically say that the batteries it comes with are intended to be demo mode and need to be changed right away. The USB cord is not for charging, but for plugging in to your computer to download. I just wanted to defend the LeapStart for unfair bad reviews 🙂 I’m very happy with it and my 4 year old Pre-K daughter enjoys it!
Badly damaged box and itâs used. The tape had been opened and the item is scratched.
