I donât know why this monitor doesnât have more 5 star reviews. We tried out a few monitors (Nooie, hello baby) and none were as good as this one. Things we love about it:- you can check on baby from an app on your phone as well as the parent monitor. Super nice to have both- this monitor has lots of settings, you can adjust motion and sound sensitivity, set temperature and humidity alerts. All this has been important in monitoring baby as her room often gets warm in the summer.- monitor and camera travel well and connect easily- camera has a sharp image and great night vision (just make sure itâs focused correctly)- you can talk through it, and night light feature is nice- the app comes with a ton of extra features like screenshots, milestone apps, and lots of info on baby development that was surprisingly useful and well written.Things I donât love:- for whatever reason our phones wouldnât connect to the camera when we travelled but the parent monitor would. So be sure to bring it when you travel.

At first I loved this baby monitor. The picture is absolutely amazing. That is the only positive I experienced.My first camera failed just after 3 months of use. It would not connect to the monitor. I called vetch and was given instructions on how to reconnect. Nothing worked. Luckily they sent me a replacement and I used the second camera in the set for our baby, leaving the older child with nothing while we waited for the new unit to arrive. That second camera also eventually failed to connect to the monitor.I have gone through a total of THREE of these baby monitors, through warranty. They ALL FAILED. One within a month. I fought to request a dual camera option that did not have wifi capability. I finally got one and have not had a single issue. The picture on the lower tech one is not nearly as good but Iâd take peace of mind all day that I will wake to a screaming baby with a monitor that I know will work.Vtech customer service was very helpful with my issues. I went through $1000 worth of product until finding something that worked. This camera is probably the biggest POS out there. Look elsewhere unless you need an expensive paperweight.
i dont understand negative comment
Some people just have unattainable expectstion i guess or used this product wrong.The image quality at night is insane, we had a Vtech that was suppose to be decent and this one blows it out the water. At night we can easily see our child breathe, hell you can even see the fibers of their pajamas in the dark. also the wide angle makes it super easy to see the whole crib/room even from up close. The zoom goes all the way to 8X with barely any image quality loss.You can set motion and noise detection and easily set it to your desired tolerance as a parent. Our old camera had that feature but it didnt work what so ever, this one super easy and works great. The monitor will be off most of the time unless you touch a button and will only turn on if motion or sound, beyond what you set it at, is detected. The monitor will then turn on just like the sound so you can see whats going on, after a while if nothing is detected anymore is goes back in sleeping mode. Set up this way, even unplugged, the monitor’s battery can last almost a full day.Battery life : like stated just before, programmed properly no problem. if you set it so its always on the monitor will last about 3hours or so same as your phone if you watch a movie in one go on it. pretty decent.the light on the camera itself is amazing, there is a touch button on the camera to turn it on, you can program the color and brightness on the monitor or the app, so you can easily check on your child at night if needed.The app works great, the only issue is that it can take between 15-30seconds to connect the image sometime but thats it.The song option on the camera, in my opinion, are terrible. i find them to be too loud and incredibly annoying.
UPDATED One camera doesn’t work
The monitor worked fine for about a month…in fact I was very happy with everything. But then one of my cameras stopped working. It would connect for a few minutes then lose connection and I had to go into my son’s rooms and restart it…and then I would only stay connected for another minute or two. Finally it stopped working completely and the camera won’t even turn on. The second camera is now starting to lose connected if the screen is off and I have the alarms on. I turned the alarms off and now the second camera seems to be fine but the screen on the monitor must stay on all the time or it will lose connection. I spent too much on this camera for one of the cameras not to work….I’m very unhappy with my purchase. 10/10 do NOT recommend.Update: amazon replaced my monitor. This one has also stopped working. Now I have 4 cameras and 2 screens and only one camera works! seriously horrible product
This is actually the second one we bought of the same monitor because the first one was carried everywhere and dropped, the toddler got a hold of it, we tried gluing the antenna, the back stand was ripped off, and it still worked beautifully, I just wanted a replacement. I love the sound detected alarm, the connection to the phone app, the clarity of the picture. I tried a few others and returned them immediately. This is the best monitor there is.
App is only available in US. Hence it’s quite useless for us when we want to access the camera outside

Sent an email about having an issue with one of the power adapters on June 28 with two follow ups a week apart. Received a reply on August 18. Almost two months to get a reply! We bought a replacement our of pocket in the mean time.In addition, the direct connection mode has a terrible range, WiFi mode is slow, the app flaky and the parent unit battery only lasts a few hours. The ability to play music and sounds along with the night light are nice. Overall, it is passable, but the support you get your money is beyond bad.
I donât know why people are having such issues with this camera. I love this camera. With my first, I went through about 10 and ended up finally settling on the Nanit. I ordered another Nanit for my second- and this leapfrog for our vacation. The leapfrog outperforms the Nanit in 100 ways. The night vision is so much better and without a pesky red light glaring into the crib, the dual screen option and the connection is great.
