NVHH 46 piece dinosaur themed magnetic tile set is nice. I have been teaching Pre-K for over 10 years and have a massive collection of magnetic tiles including 120 sets from Amazon with 5 sets being dinosaur themed. Let’s take a look at this set. These tiles are standard sized and fully compatible with all your other standard sized sets. I do consider this set to be an extension/add on specialty set and not stand alone as your little builder will surely need more pieces.Let’s look at accuracy of the ad first. The first two pictures in the ad do a good job depicting this product. The breakdown of the 46 piece tile count found there is spot on. The rest of the pictures show multiple sets and add on pieces not included such as that castle topper/fence piece. Please refer to my photos above to see exactly what is included in this set.Here is my list of what is in the box: 10 plain square tiles7 one side specialty printed square tiles1 arched doorway1 paned window2 plain half squares1 one side specialty printed half square13 various plain triangles7 various one side specialty printed triangles4 flat dinosaurs printed one side onlyLet’s look at aesthetics and what is included first. This set is pretty small but it does have some unique pieces. The graphics on the mushrooms, leaves, grass, footprints and the dinosaurs sign are quite bold and unique. About half the squares are plain, run of the mill tiles in the standard rainbow colors.Let’s look at magnetism next. To test magnetism I dangle a line of squares off a single square to see how many it will hold. All my 120+ sets fall between a weak 5 tiles to a snappy 8 tiles strong. The vast majority of companies hold 6-7 tiles and I consider that average. This set tests out at a strong 7 tiles which is average/slightly above average strength. The sides are squared well on tiles and the tiles hung straight. The dinosaurs will stand on vertical surfaces and hold their weight. Each has two small silver barrel magnets in their feet, which is typical.I consider magnetic tiles to be one of my best teaching toys. These toys foster STEM thinking and support many of our early childhood learning targets. These manipulatives are engaging and open-ended. Add some cars, trees, people, animals, driftwood, rocks and the like to see new ideas and creativity unfold. Magnetic tiles hold up to the abuse of a classroom and last for years.Overall this set is small but boasts some bright, well done graphics. The magnets here are strong leading to longer, more frustration-free building for your child. These tiles will enhance and compliment your collection well. Toys like this are quite durable and surely a sound investment for your little dinosaur enthusiast. Price seems reasonable. Ages 3+
Our 3 and 5 year olds love magnetic tile building so much that we have daily trouble sharing the more unique pieces. This 43 piece set from NVVH is a nice addition to our growing collection of magnetic tiles. In 2020, I bought a basic 60 piece set by Picasso for $27 and then this year added to it with a 48 dinosaur set by Coodoo for $21 (with a coupon), a 50 piece road set by Haphiz for $24 (with a coupon), and now this 43 piece dinosaur set for $19.99. The first dinosaur set by Coodoo added large triangles with a tree design, squares with leaves and fern designs, squares with dinosaur track marks, triangle with fire/lava for a volcano, and four dinosaur figures much like this one by NVVH. My photos show the unique pieces by NVVH â the balance of the set are solids. Weâre happy to have another set with similar pieces to help with our sharing crisis, but this set again added a few unique pieces that will still be fought over. The price of this set is in line with others weâve purchased and the sizes and shapes of these tiles are exactly the same as the other sets so they interchange and build together seamlessly.
I played with these first to make sure they would be ok for our younger grandkids. I had fun! LOL! The sizes are perfect for small hands. I wish, however, there were magnets on some of the pieces that helped the dinosaurs stand up. They do on some smaller ones, sorta. They fall over easily, so I hope that won’t make it too frustrating for kids.The plastic is good, magnets just the right strength. I love the colors of the pieces.This will provide a lot of imaginative play for the kids! We would love to get more sets.l
