We’ve been searching for a good way to keep our skin from drying out without using chemicals or anything that leaves the skin greasy for hours. Not an easy task which is why we started making our own hand cream.Guys, are you using some chemical based product as an after shave to get rid of the razer burn? Instead of smearing chemicals with all kinds of scent on your skin, spread a little of this around. I find there’s no burn and it very quickly soaks in to give the skin a nice look. It feels good going on. I also have a very dry scalp and with the standard European receding hairline I’ve struggled to keep from looking like a lizard that’s moulting. A little of this on the scalp goes a long way and doesn’t leave the hair all greasy looking. This is far better than the big brand name stuff that stinks for hours and has chemicals that will soon be banned in Canada.I know that this is commonly used as a carrier oil but it can also be used on its own to condition skin. I find it very useful to keep the eczema on the backs of my wrists under control. We’ve also used it a couple of times to treat very dry hair with good results.Before buying the first time I was expecting there to be some coconut smell but there is none what so ever. There is no scent to it at all. Coconut oil is a wonderful product for softening skin and the fractionation process produces an oil that easily soaks into the skin within minutes and soon after there is no trace that any was applied. I also find that if I wash my hands to soon after applying it to the eczema areas it washes off. I need to give it a few minutes to soak in.I do make my own hand cream (I really hate using chemicals) and am already looking at how I can incorporate this into the mix. I don’t see any problem with bee’s wax being able to work as an emulsifier and properly bind this along with the other oils.This isn’t the cheapest oil and its certainly more expensive than the chemical alternatives but because this is so viscous and spreads so easily it really takes just a few drops to cover the backs of my hands and lasts for hours so when I look at this vs. the cost and add in that it’s all natural the price is actually better than buying the big brand name chemical crud.We’ll be giving it a shot as a carrier oil but I suspect that we won’t encounter any problems.
