Do not recommend this!!!!
Please read this if you are in the market for a reliable baby monitor!! First of all, the camera took forever to update and kept exiting out of the app. I’d go back into the app and try connect to the camera then it would try update again. Did this about 3 or 4 times which took at least an hour before it even turned the camera function on. Secondly and probably the most frustrating thing I’ve ever dealt with is the connection issue. It will constantly disconnect. It’s only ever had live view for about 4 minutes without disconnecting. Try reconnect to the camera and it just sits on the connecting screen and nothing happens. Tried to do the trouble shooting power down steps and did not help. Third thing that I think is a huge scam is the RPM monitor. That has never even came on for more than 5 SECONDS!! When it does it goes from 10 rpm to 65 jumping all over then just turns off and says movement detected. Such a waste of money. Fourth thing I hate is when my wife and I try to have both of our phones connected to it the camera won’t show any feed at all and says “try to reconnect”. We have the fastest internet our city can provide and the monitor is only about 15 feet away from our router. Even on one phone you can forget having the quality set on HI because the camera will lag so much and never show live feed. I don’t know how or why on earth they say you can connect to this camera anywhere in the world when I can’t even be in my dam living room and watch my baby. I’m extremely disappointed in this product especially when I paid over $620. Save your money and buy something else you can actually trust. And also your cell phone will become a land line because the app kills your battery faster than it can charge it. Over all this experience was horrible and I feel like I really got ripped off.
Easy to use, excellent quality
Having used this product for a month with our little one, here is our review.PROS:- device is very easy set up, very intuitive to mount and piece together.- excellent customer service (our crib is a little higher than most and when we asked for an additional cord cover to help, the response was swift and helpful)- app is easy to navigate and pull up on your phone. One less device to carry around.- many choices of sounds to choose from for white noise- can access feed from anywhere (device connects through secure wifi connection)- sound is not distorted when you speak through the speaker- can turn off the LED light for full darkness in the room- zoom feature possible on camera- peace of mind with respiratory rate shown. Monitor is very sensitive to movement, but when not twitching in sleep, the respiratory rate is shown on the side of the screen as well as tracked along the bottom of the screen. The tracking across the bottom of the screen is super helpful to see if little one is in a deep sleep (even and regular RPM shown) or starting to wake up or transition in sleep (irregular and uneven RPM shown). Depending on how you swaddle your child, there are times where no movement alarms will show, but if you are next to the crib you can still hear the baby breathing even though the monitor can’t pick up chest movement. However! I would rather have a false alarm than a higher level of tolerance and miss something. This may also be impacted because our monitor is a little higher than recommended above the surface of the crib.- analytics and activity options provide opportunity to see how long naps actually were, how often little one was up and moving during the night, etc.- easy to allow multiple people access to the monitor (spouse can also have on their phone, etc)CONS- to maintain the secure connection, the wifi sometimes has to re-establish the link. This leads to a break in the streaming and the device has to reconnect- sound settings aren’t saved and default length of settings in 5 min (babies sleep best if the sound doesn’t cut off right as they are falling asleep). Easy fix is to remember to set on a loop whenever you turn it on. You just have to remember.- no VOX (sound is constant), not just turning on or up with baby sounds- sound machine impacts how clear baby’s sounds are, but still easily heard- watch battery life on phone, the app constantly uses the battery- if a phone call comes in, the access to the app is completely disrupted, including visual. So, if you have a phone call lasting longer than a few minutes, you could potentially miss something. If you have alarms turned on for notifications, these will still come through, but you can’t watch the video feed while on the phone
Your worst nightmare
Bought it for 650 when it didn’t require monthly subscription. Product was alright. After the acquisition, the price is now half but it would be rip off if you buy it. The app has just transformed into pure dog****. Requires several reset to come up and the only thing included is sound and video. Stay away from this product if you truly value your money.
A smart choice for a smart monitor
I got this monitor upon the advice of a friend and I’m very glad I did. No wonder it’s one of the top rated…It can be difficult to decide which product is best and which features are most important when shopping; luckily this monitor sports all of the top specs and then some.I received the product a week ahead of schedule and had it up and running in no time. Pairing with the app was seamless. I saw the odd review mentioning connectivity issues but didn’t experience any myself (I connected via 5GHz).The HD feed is clear and the night vision works better than our previous model by far. The field of view is also incredibly wide and will capture most/all of a small bedroom if mounted high as instructed. Absolutely everything to mount it is included. Some of the features (white noise, lullabies, etc.) may seem unnecessary based on personal need but they don’t hurt to have. The 2-way voice is super clear if you want to soothe a baby or provide an answer to an older child calling out. There’s no built in night light like some cameras have but that’s an easy solve and not a problem for most. The big feature Miku has over its competitors is the ability to track/monitor respiration without a wearable. So far this seems to work decently well and I’ll update my review after having a chance to use it for some time.Overall I’m very impressed with the sheer amount of features and the quality of both the device and supporting app. For anyone looking for a smart option for a smart baby monitor this is a great choice.
We’ve been users of this device for almost 2 years now and the recent events behind the scenes will likely have me just throwing this thing away for a basic network monitor with an app that doesn’t DESTROY my phones battery. There’s a number of factors for the 1 star review and we’ll start with the companies new business model.I paid over $400 for this device when it first came out. Am I crazy? Maybe, but I liked that it had the breathing monitor and other various smart features. They were awesome, until recent changes in the companies business model shifted to locking those features down unless you pay $10 a month(pretty sure this is called extortion). So not only do you pay upwards of $400 for this thing after taxes, you then have to spend $120 a year to even use the features that separate it from the rest of the monitors out there. WHAT A JOKE! They didn’t even consider lowering the price of the device itself and then plan to make money from the subscription, they just went full on greed mode and make you pay a crazy amount of money for the monitor and then lock you in to a subscription if you even want to use the features you are buying it for. I can’t even monitor the kid while I’m out of the house and the Nanny is taking care of him because the feature to watch the video feed over the internet is locked out. I have to be on my homes wifi to view the video feed. Why would I spend $400 dollars on a device where I can’t even leave my home to monitor the baby. A regular monitor can fit that bill. There’s monitors out there that are half the price of this thing that allow for me to monitor over the internet outside my home network. They didn’t even consider to grandfather the people who bought this, before their terrible decision, with a legacy membership that unlocks at least monitoring outside the home network and breathing so they can use the device for their other child they have later on.Then there’s the app… Holy wah where do i start with the Dumpster Fire of an app they have developed. First of all, you better buy a battery bank or keep your phone plugged in to the wall cause the app while running in the background will eat your battery life up. We’re not talking phone dead by the end of the day, we’re talking phone dead by the afternoon(Pixel 7a running nothing else). I’ve never seen an app drain a battery so fast. Then lets talk about the connectivity. half the time you can’t just set your phone down to just listen for when the kid wakes up, no it’ll randomly drop connection and you have to go in to the app and restore the connection to the monitor. And the breathing monitor is a SCAM. I’ve seen wavy bars for breathing when my kid isn’t even in the crib and there’s no sounds in the room, it’s just(in my opinion) a fake wavy line moving across the screen. And I’ve set the thing up step by step from their instructions to ensure there’s no electrical interference. I guess I don’t have to worry about it anymore though, cause I refuse to give this company anymore of my money and the feature is now locked out.So in conclusion. DO NOT BUY THIS SCAM OF A MONITOR. Unless you like to burn money on useless junk. it was bearable when we at least had all the features WE PAID FOR, but now that they’re essentially extorting the early adopters of this device for more money to use those features, it’s just another useless piece of plastic in your home. Do yourself a favor and spend the money on a sperate monitoring device for heart rate and a plain jane monitor that has a lightweight phone app for sound and video. You should be able to buy both for less than what you would spend on this piece of garbage.
Theyâve been bought out by another firm and are now charging huge monthly fees for what is basically an overpriced webcam. It was fine to pay top dollar a year ago like we did for the hardware when the online services were free, but theyâve retroactively applied service fees to top tier hardware paying customers. As it is the device should be free and you just pay the subscription costs.
5/5 Monitor!MOUNTING: If you plan on mounting this camera to the wall – all required hardware is included in the box (a pre-marked tape measurer, a level (built into the wall mount base), & a cable track (photo attached), screws & wall anchor. The instructions on how to mount (height, position to the crib, etc.) are very clear and doesn’t require any power tools.CAMERA SETUP: The software side of things is simple. Just follow the instructions in the box and you’ll be connected in no time. Start with a bluetooth connection to communicate with the camera. Once connected via bluetooth, then it’ll ask you for your wifi name/password so it can connect. Following that, you’ll likely need to do a firmware update which takes a little bit of time. Overall, a very simple/easy process.FEATURES/NOTES:NO SUBSCRIPTION:First and foremost, one of the biggest perks of the this monitor is that there is no subscription required to make use of all of the functions it has to offer. This can’t be said for just about any device (baby monitor or not) out there today. Being able to buy something & not have to continue paying to use it is a HUGE plus.CAMERA QUALITY (See screenshots):As the description of the product says and as is pretty standard with other monitors, this camera offers 1080p resolution + night vision. As far as how it looks on the app goes/the quality – I’ll let the screenshots I’ve posted do the talking. Personally, I think the quality is perfect given what it’s being used for (you don’t need 4k resolution on a baby monitor, imo).FEATURES:- Live Breathing/Vital Tracking: Although we haven’t made use of this, for the parents that want a camera/monitor with all of the bells & whistle of other premium brands (and no additional hardware/wearable tech that the baby has to wear in order for this function to work, as other brands require). I did post a couple of screenshots with this feature enabled for those curious. With this feature turned on, the Miku Pro can detect with the baby is not in the crib, it can detect/alert when there’s no movement (at times when it expects there to be movement) & when there is movement.-Music/Sound Machine Function: There’s a HUGE list of songs (and sounds) that can be turned on (with a timer). Volume control is also available in the app.-Alarms: If you have vital tracking on, this function makes use of the built in speakers to sound an alarm if any vital signs aren’t quite right.-Standby Mode (Screenshot attached): If you’re not using the camera (and don’t want to completely unplug it) – this function turns the camera ‘off’ and disables all monitoring/notifications.AUDIO MONITOR (TOP FEATURE, IMO):Similar to a basic audio monitor, the app gives you the options for something called “background monitoring”. This feature will send you push notifications to your phone if it detects audio in the room (i.e. if the baby is crying). You can also opt to have the audio continue playing on your phone even if the app is closed (similar to if you play on a song on your music app of choice and then browse other apps or set your phone to the side). The reason I like this feature so much is that you don’t have to worry about having the app open 24/7 to be able to use it like an old-fashion audio only monitor.TWO-WAY AUDIO:This camera also allows you to talk to your baby via the app. There’s a ‘speak’ button in the app that will play whatever you say through the built-in camera speakers to the baby.MISC NOTES:- CONNECTIVITY: Really like that you can access this camera via the internet/don’t have to be connected to the same network/wifi to be able to access it. I travel for work & work odd hours, so being able to check in on our little one while I’m away is lovely.-SETTING CUSTOMIZATION (Screenshot Attached): For the sound, movement, sleep tracking, etc.. You can custom tailor the sensitivity of how often/when these are triggered and send you notifications.-ACCOUNT SHARE: This feature will let you ‘invite’ someone (your spouse, a family member, etc.) to be able to have access to the camera/monitor. The thing I liked most about this is that whoever has the account that setup the camera can control how much access the person it’s being shared with has. So if it’s your spouse, you can give them full access. Whereas if it’s a grandparent or family friend – you can set it so that they can have ‘view only’ access (i.e. they can’t use the microphone or see motion tracking info, etc…)FINAL VERDICT:Overall, we are VERY pleased with this camera and all that it has to offer (esp since no subscription is required!!!!). Highly Recommended!
I got it, switched it on, couldnât connect regardless of what I did.. tried a unique wifi network, 5ghz only.. all the stuff recommended on the website.. highly unreliable..
I bought this product because we loved the fact that you could monitor the baby’s breathing and you get the white noise built into the unit. We have received several emails over the past couple of months that Miku went bankrupt and the assets were purchased by another company. They are now implementing a subscription purchase for features that were advertised as basic features when we bought the product. These units are too expensive to also require a subscription on top of the purchase price. See below for the official email.Update 11/29 – subscription is required for EACH baby monitor. On top of that, there no longer is phone support for the monitor. Ran into an issue where I could not see video and had to troubleshoot it myselfâInnovative Health MonitoringSeptember 15, 2023Re: Notice To Customers: Notice of Miku Inc.
