It’s Like a Lamp and a Flashlight Combined
This isn’t a nightlight that stays plugged in all night, it’s mostly like a lamp. My oldest son would turn his on before he falls asleep as an extra sort of nightlight. He mostly uses it if he wakes up during the night so he can find his water, or stuffed animal he dropped etc.We bought him his first one about 2 years ago, it ended up getting a crack in it but it sure got thrown around a lot by toddlers before that happened. It still works perfectly fine, but since we wanted one for our second son we just bought two new ones. It’s a bright enough light that you can see what you’re doing or where you’re going, but not bright enough to read by.The batteries last a very long time. Seriously I think we change them every 6 months or so, and this light gets used every night. You can tell when it’s time to change the batteries because the owl starts to go from a nice bright white to kind of grey when it’s on. I like that this is battery operated because other types of lamps like this we tried, needed constant charging. The timer is the greatest idea, and is the hardest feature to find, which is basically why we went with these owls.Other things I love about this are the handle, the power button in the bottom is easy for kids to find, even in the dark.I 100% recommend, this is all around a great product.
Great light. Very durable and good battery life.
My 2.5 year old is in love with this light. She carries it around at night. She also knows how to turn it on and off, so it it gives her a sense of control at bedtime. She is rough on it…. and I mean… rough. But despite being thrown against the wall, floor, dog, cabinet, etc., it still works great. The paint on the owl’s eye is starting to wear a bit now, but not badly. It automatically turns off after a while, and the battery life is excellent so far.It is a little brighter than I would personally like, but my daughter doesn’t seem to have trouble falling asleep with it next to her.All in all, a great product. I have recommended it to my cousin and friends, and I’ll likely buy it as a baby shower gift when the opportunity arises.
the light is easily identifiable as an cute little owl
In all fairness this is our third Light My Way Nightlight we’ve purchased.Although it has an odd plastic look/feel, the light is easily identifiable as an cute little owl. It’s easy for little hands to carry (our son with special needs had no issues carting it everywhere, neither did his brother). The light was surprisingly soft which, combined with its cool to touch feature and automatic shut off, makes this perfect for bedtime routines. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that my kids were able to turn the light on by themselves by about 18 months which means they can easily pop it back on if they wake up in the night and want to surprise Mama and Daddy by letting us sleep ;)We did have to replace one, however, that was after over two years of solid, everyday use and a 2000 km move so even though some have commented on it’s cheap look, two years with my toddler is an impressive achievement.
Awesome but Blue LED -what were they thinking?
At first my 2 yr old was scared out of his mind about this owl. It is a little offputting and not soft and friendly like other personal night lights, it’s a little medical/clinical looking with bulbous eyes and the light color remind him of the doctors office. After a day or so of getting him warmed up to it – he loves it, saying “OWL! Owl!” all the time, wanting it during the day too. Plus, the handle is awesome. But seriously, what were they thinking about the choice of LED? It’s been scientifically proven that the blue/white light and UV at nighttime decreases the hormone (Melatonin) production needed for falling and staying asleep. That’s why they say phones and tablets before bed are so bad for you. And we needed this owl light to comfort him and help him fall asleep. I may try and open it up and put a bit of transparent Orange cellophane around the bulb to warm up the light color. Not sure if it will work or if it will block th blue UV which also affects melatonin. Would be 5 stars if not for the light color.
Not too bright, just perfect
Great portable light with an automatic 20-minute shutoff that kids can have in bed with them for comfort. My kids typically tuck it under the covers with them, but it’s not too bright to be out in the open when it’s on at night. Once the batteries wear down a little bit it’s the perfect brightness for nighttime diaper changes or feedings or whatever, without ruining night vision or waking everyone up.Batteries last about a year I’d say. Maybe a bit more, which is great. The auto-shutoff keeps it from staying on all night needlessly.
Helped with night time potty training
This little lantern worked wonders in helping with night time potty training. We went from wet sheets to potty trips instantly. She was so excited and proud of her little light. Lightweight and just enough light to not wake you up all the way. The 20 min shutoff is amazing!
Great little nightlight.
Grandkids love them. They use them at bedtime and when making forts.Bonus: the battery compartment is screwed on. Auto shut off is a great feature.Wish: softer plastic or soft bumpers on corners would be an upgrade.
Cutest little light
My little guy is 20 months old & he LOVES his little owl light. Itâs nice that it turns off after 20 min. The only thing I wish was different is the button location. Wouldâve been better to make it the beak or something easy, âcause itâs kinda small on the bottom. Oh well, he always seems to find it easily, even in the dark. Super cute little lantern, overall very happy with it.
This light is a bit bright for my liking, but my toddler sleeps better with it. It goes off by itself after 20 minutes. I buy it for every foster child who lives with me.
Compramos esta lámpara para mi hija que a veces despierta en las noches. Es pequeña, ligera y perfecta para un niño pequeño y da luz suficiente para guiarlos por la noche al baño o para encontrar cosas en su recámara. Usa 3 baterÃas AAA (no incluidas). Se ve resistente y de buena calidad.
Ok, I know this is just a nightlight, but this beautiful little owl has CHANGED MY LIFE. It was bought as a cheap replacement for an LED moon nightlight thing we had that the switch broke on. The moon was alright, but just a nightlight. Then along came ‘Hoot’, the sanity-saving owl. My son takes him to bed every night and leaves him in bed to sleep all day so he can be awake to watch him at night again. Sounds a bit creepy, but it works. The owl switches on with a little orange button on the bottom. On and off with the same button – nice and simple for little fingers. The light is bright enough that you can see pretty well, but not so blinding you hesitate to switch it on and then squint around wondering why you bothered. It then switches itself off after 20mins, after which time he can turn it easily back on if he so desires, or not, because he’s asleep. No more him shouting that the moon isn’t working, or me having to sneak in and turn it off to try and save batteries. It feels of good quality, though the plastic is harder and shinier than I’d imagined. But it’s very smooth, with no horrible edges, and strong and solid. The handle is useful and it stands on the table on little rubber feet without wobbling, so also a plus. It takes AAA batteries, nice and common, no fiddling with watch batteries. All in all, I love this darn owl, though not as much as my son does.
Material is not that much good. This soft light is great for kids who are afraid of the dark. My 2-year-old son loves his owl and is able to turn on the light by himself. After a few minutes the light goes out on its own. I love that it doesn’t make any noise–no tunes, so that my grandson can fall asleep easily. It’s a great size for little hands & doesn’t take up too much room on a dresser, or in his case, in the bed.
