So far Iâm happy with the results Iâm getting from applying it to my sonâs thumb.He does not like the taste at all and donât like when I apply it to his thumb.It hasnât completely stopped him for sucking his fingers as yet, but I do see where itâs discouraging him from doing it.Iâm convinced that if I continue to keep applying it to his thumb he will eventually quite sucking it.He hasnât had any negative effects from using it, I will continue to use until itâs finished.

I just received this anti-biting nail polish. I tested it on myself before applying to my four year old. Itâs gross as expected, so its perfect!It applied easily and dries really fast. As others have noted – it does kind of wash off after a day or two which might work against you depending on how clever or old your child is.Overall, I do quite like this product. My son is a mindless nail biter. He doesnât even realize when heâs doing it! Iâm hoping to break the habit before he gets too big.Not bad for pricing, just over $18 CAD for the polish, good investment to break a strong habit. Great product, I highly recommend.

Great concept, but applying it?
My son hates this stuff. Yeah, that means he doesn’t like putting his fingers in his mouth when it is on, but how are you supposed to get it on a second (and third, fourth…..) time? Kids will resist stuff like that. It wears off after a while, so putting it on while he sleeps isn’t exactly on option.Also, my son and daughter were playing and it somehow ended up in her mouth. And she’s not the one with the nail biting problem. Multiple children in tears that day.I do like the concept, and was hopeful for it. If you can find a way to apply multiple times – and deal with the tears that come with it – it is a good option. But it isn’t always as sunshine and rainbows as some people seem to be saying.

I got this for the intended purpose of preventing nail biting and it was very successful in doing so, at the very least while using it. It’s marketed for children and I’m sure it would work for thumb sucking as well. If you want to quit biting your nails passively, this acts as a great preventative and reminder. The flavor is extremely strong and chemically bitter, and lasts a good while. It might be a bit too punishing for someone who is stubborn or unwilling to drop the habit, but I let a chronically nail-biting friend use it and she was amazed and kept telling me how ‘bad’ (effective) it is.
